SHOCKING CCTV showing the moment a car ploughs into a woman and a toddler then races from the scene have been released by police in a bid to track the driver.

In the 20 seconds of CCTV footage captured by cameras in Coventry, a woman and child can be seen leaving a chip shop and crossing the road.

As the pair step onto the road, a black Audi estate overtaking a turning car, ploughs into the pair throwing them down the road.

The car momentarily slows, before racing off followed by a witness who gives chase in a bid to stop the driver.

Miraculously just seconds after being hit the three-year-old leaps from the ground to be comforted by passersby who rushed to help as his 42-year-old aunt lies dazed on the road.

Officers arriving on the scene were amazed to find that the pair had escaped with only minor injuries.

I think the fact it is a child and a women that was hit is really going to make people want to come forward even more if they have any kind of information as to who was possibly driving that Audi. Absolutely amazing they only suffered minor injuries.
