HawkMan
They are the kind of people who would complain that the WiiU version ran like crap if they had spent time porting the engine over. I have no doubt that the engine would run just as well on the WiiU if they did the work. I also do not think that at this point in time it's worth it to port the engine for them. However this is one of this chicken and egg things. and for EA they don't care if the chicken or egg came first. they don't need to have their engines on the console as long is it doesn't have a solid users base, it only makes sense for them to support the platform once it's there. Hence what Nintendo should do is help pay for the development of Frostbite 2/3 on the WiiU. That way the games are there on the console, so they can sell more consoles, more consoles means more games, which means more console games and so on. and EA is so big and has such a large portfolio of games they are the ones Nintendo NEEDS to get on board to launch the console. M_Lyons10
EA has killed a console before... cries... sniffs... DREAMCAST :( God, that was a good console... To be honest I don't understand EA's clout... I hate the company, I think they produce sub par games, I will not waste my money on something they produce... Who will?
The Teej
God, that was a good console... To be honest I don't understand EA's clout... I hate the company, I think they produce sub par games, I will not waste my money on something they produce... Who will? To be fair, this has basically a downward trend. Think of how when HD-DVD and Blu-Ray were out - as soon as 1 or 2 of the biggest publishers sided with one, the other went down hill. . If publishers see that EA isn't committed to the Wii U you can guarantee that it'll have a negative impact on sales. If this negative impact is great enough, it'll start to make other publishers nervous. If it continues, then other publishers will start pulling out. Hence, the fall of the Wii U. EA's loss by itself isn't the be all and end all, but if Activision Blizzard decide all of a sudden that EA are right and they too pull out, then that's becoming a rather big loss. People say that EA games aren't a massive system seller for the Wii and Wii U, but they definitely drive growth. Anybody who disagrees with me is more then welcome to look at the top 10 weekly sales for the Wii and see that for a good portion of them, EA published games hit the top 10, especially during their releases. Their clout is from being the biggest damn publisher around with some of the best games on book whether you admit it or not. - Crysis X - Dead Space X - Need For Speed X - Battlefield X - Everything Sims - Everythign EA Sports - Mass Effect - Dragon Age And that's just the top of the list. a lot of those are top og their genre, others ARE the genre. And they're all good games, though I personally don't play all of them as they're not my kind of game, I can still admit they're good games. JustGeorge
Not all products will be successful, but I think its too early to call the Wii u a failure. Nintendo is about fun and not graphics, unlike the ps3 and Xbox. Graphics do not make a game fun, but better graphics in a fun game, make a game more fun. +Eternal Tempest MVC Posted May 10, 2013 MVC Share Posted May 10, 2013 With EA starting to lose money, the fiasco's of there always online DRM (aka Sim City) hurting their sales, and with the announcement of 900 layoff's. EA may of made the business decision to not support the WiiU just to cut costs and try and stabilize themselves. That being said, not going to say EA going to collapse, but Nintendo is probably more financially stable company then EA at the moment. My personal intrested in EA games is now almost non-existent. I use to love Bioware games, but with Dragon Age II, Mass Effects 3.... no more pre-order, 1st week purchasing. Will wait till I see some game reviews before buying. Also not a fan of microtransaction built into every future game, so that's a big negative for me. No EA on WiiI will hurt it but still remains to be seen if it will sink it. Nintendo survived last Gen as the winner, despite not having solid 3rd party game support. Have to see how WiiU plays out.
Jason S. Global Moderator Posted May 10, 2013 Global Moderator Share Posted May 10, 2013 When they release Mario Kart, the console will rise again :D i'd like to agree w/ your optimism. I'm a huge sucker for all things Mario and Mario Kart. i will definitely buy Mario Kart. it was awesome on 3DS and im very excited for it on Wii U. i doubt the Wii U will be a flop, but i think they marketed it wrong from the get-go, much like the 3DS. So many people were confused about the 3DS. They thought it was just a DS w/ 3D. Then people are thinking that the Wii U is just a Wii w/ the tablet controller. Nintendo has not done a good job of differentiating these products. Their focus was the 3D instead of the entirely new system. Their focus was the tablet controller instead of a completely new system.
casper2
way i look at it wii u is repeating these 3 systems its like all the same ideas in one system combined with the wii and you get wii u..... any way if it stays the same with hardly any games and continues to stay the same with all the other game developer/system problems its had they need to kill it and release anew system in next 2 years on the level of ps4/720 or go the way of sega.... Azies
Seems like a bit of a premature assumption, but Nintendo seriously needs to entice buyers to their console. At this point the Wii U is current gen to PS3 and Xbox 360, REALLY late, too late to be honest. They need to price their system for what it is, a budget system, underpowered compared to even the PS3. 350 is way too much for their premium system, knock that down to 250, hell, knock premium down to 199, and base to 150. It's low, but for a system that's struggling to garner third party support, which is crucial, a drastic move is needed, this isn't like the Virtual Boy, where Nintendo also had two other systems to fall back on. This is their main flagship system here, they don't have anything but the 3DS to fall back on.

Dotdot
In other news, World Of Warcraft is now DEAD! Love how one idiots opinion can spread like wild fire on the internet. Amazed how many folk take any given statement for total value and then repeat and regurgitate it, as if they themselves have all the inside figures/stats/questions/answers. Is it too hard to form your own opinion?
Zodiarck
Just a quick c&p from wikipedia, but there are some good games to be had from this list... Battlefield series - Generic FPS (not my style but, yes they sell) Burnout series - no games have been released since 2011 Command & Conquer series - it's a nice one but the last ones were crappy Crysis series - it's fun and one of the best game in the genre Dead Space series - the first one was OMG , the second one was okay , the 3rd is ... boring and only in coop is interisting as playing with carver Dragon Age series - the 2nd was so lame, it gave another meaning to the word lame ... FIFA series - it sells good , not my style Fight Night series - never heard O.o Harry Potter series - NOOOOO Madden NFL series - never heard O.o Mass Effect series - YESS SO MUCH YEEES (except for that 3 colored ending) Medal of Honor series - quite the fun NBA Live series - not my play style NCAA Football series - not my play style Need for Speed series - not my play style NHL series - not my play style Rock Band series - quite fun SimCity series - they screwed up with this one big time ... with the microtransaction system and bad release The Sims series - adictive Skate series - not my play style SSX series - not my play style Star Wars series - never been a fan So to answer your question... A **** ton of people will. So yeah lots of people, but money , but if they continue to make more and more errors like the ones i stated, i think they will have a bad time ... look at the reactions for their biggest franchises ... like someone stated , they are losing pre-purchases (mine of dead space 3, simcity , mass effect 3 )

Nintendo virtual boy caused people to have headaches and eye strain. Saturn was expensive, came out too soon after the had the 32x / SegaCD drive add-ons (also expensive) for the genesis came out, and no backwards compatibility. Dreamcast did well in the US, but got creamed in Japan, eventually losing to the PS2.
