Best Answer feature enabled

Recommended Posts

I have enabled the "Best Answer" feature for all forums where it applies. It is set so that the topic starter and staff may only vote for the best answer.

It's an optional feature, but hopefully people will use it.

I have also added it to NeoBay and Grafix Exchange and I will require that items that are sold, or images that have been chosen by the asker be marked as Best Answer so that topics in those forums are marked as solved.

So once a post has been selected as the best one, does that mean the topic will be automatically closed? Or will it be at the discretion of the OP?

Wouldn't it be a good idea to auto close topics after a best answer is selected - say after 24 hours?

Might be, in some cases.

Lets say OP, in hesitation, selected the best answer but after that, some other genius ( :p ) came by and suggested a better solution to the problem, which will of course require more time for the consideration by others

This is good for less complex problems, but for harder issues its better to keep a thread open if alot of people still cant solve it

Yeah i vote for keeping the thread open after a best answer is selected. We do this on our web design forum and having a 'best answer' can often draw a better discussion out of the rest of the thread.

I've been looking forward to this feature for a long time. Gone are the days of scouring through a thread to find an answer.

Nice feature. (Y)

Are you going to make it to where the "answered" threads get their titles updated with [solved] before them. This way it will show up as that on a Google search, for example.

I know when I'm looking for a solution to a problem, I'm more likely to click a "solved" link in Google.

I doubt that matters, whenever i'm looking for a solution I will open a couple of the top most results anyway, it would be nice if Google supported tag prefixes tbh.

This... I also do the same, and would help out greatly when searching the forums too.

Good move, it will help separate the good answers from the bad ones

I think the color should be changed as it is exactly the same as the pinned topics..

Pinned topics are green? Show me..

Please note:

The staff will not accept reports to mark answers to questions as solved. If the poster doesn't mark it we will mark them if we run across them. Please do not use the report function for this.
