DocM
http://abcnews.com/m/story?id=19595684&sid=76 Fans Kill and Quarter Football Referee in Brazil Police say enraged spectators invaded a football field, stoned the referee to death and quartered his body after he stabbed a player to death. The Public Safety Department of the state of Maranhao says in a statement that it all started when referee Otavio da Silva expelled player Josenir Abreu from a game last weekend. The two got into a fist fight, then Silva took out a knife and stabbed Abreu, who died on his way to the hospital. The statement issued this week says Abreu's friends and relatives immediately "rushed into the field, stoned the referee to death and quartered his body." Local news media say the spectators also decapitated Silva and stuck his head on a stake in the middle of the field. Police have arrested one suspect. FloatingFatMan
What a bunch of animals. No, actually... I take that back. Animals don't act like that, at all. So, what that should read is: What a bunch of humans. djdanster, DocM, ahhell and 2 others 5 Share
game_over
:| Holy ****. When the "beautiful game" turns ugly. Beautiful game? it's a bunch of over paid pricks kicking a ball around a field and they're supported by scum of the earth who think it's acceptable to fight, cause riots and attack random people. Shiranui
WTF was the ref doing with a knife on the pitch? The fans got medieval on his culo. Surely FIFA is going to have to reconsider. HighwayGlider 1 Share
Shiranui
To be fair, if I had seen my son stabbed to death on the pitch, or anywhere else for that matter, the killer would soon find himself in more than 4 pieces.

I did use "" around beautiful game. I don't call it the "beautiful game" that is what it is known as. I was obviously trying to point out it isn't always as beautiful as some people may think. -T- Member Posted July 8, 2013 Member Share Posted July 8, 2013 Ah Brazil, where last year there were 50,000 murders, and we decided that was the best choice for the Olympics and World Cup because?? Ah that's right, massive wealth in certain parts due to resources, while the majority are in abject poverty and this type of stuff happens. You gotta give credit to them, they managed to turn what would be a tropical paradise full of beautiful women, great beaches and amazing weather, into a place you really shouldn't go to

compl3x
:( Americans should be glad soccer isn't huge over there. Could you imagine soccer riots with the personal arsenals some Americans own? (I'm being facetious)
DocM
Facetious or not, in the vast majority of states (perhaps all - have to check) stadiums and other large capacity venues qualify as exclusion zones so you can't carry there.
compl3x
^^ Hmm. I wonder how they can get them exclusions zones around school? But criminals and nut jobs don't pay attention to exclusion zones, so perhaps we should let people in stadiums carry. If it is good enough for teachers in a classroom, it is good enough for parents taking their kid to a ball game, no? I know I am going OT. Sorry. But I couldn't resist. DocM
Schools are already exclusion zones, save for some colleges where they recognize qualified & licensed students who live in residence halls don't lose their carry rights. This may well have been of benefit at Virginia Tech.
