#Michael
Just an FYI for those that have upgraded to Mavericks and now have issues accessing network shares. Apple has started depreciating the AFP protocol and implemented their own version of the SMB2 protocol. It seems to have big issues with most NAS that are on the market at the moment. It is also causing problems with accessing Windows shares. There is a discussion thread on Apple's forums with a temp fix: https://discussions.apple.com/message/23466518#23466518 Basically instead of using afp or smb use cifs This forces the computer to connect to the network share using the SMB1 protocol. It is a slower connection but it works.
The_Decryptor Veteran Posted October 30, 2013 Veteran Share Posted October 30, 2013 I haven't had any issues connecting to Windows shares (if anything it's gotten better), I assume the issue is that OS X doesn't like falling back to SMB1, while Windows doesn't care (It supports the fallback for old versions of Windows), so it can talk to the old code running on the NAS while OS X is having issues.
