Blame Thatcher - The UK's crappy broadband speeds

Recommended Posts

I live in 10 year old housing estate about 7 miles out of Leeds town centre, 6 miles from the exchange, no cable, no fibre, the best we ever get around here is 1.5-2mbs. That's on a good day, generally its around .75-1mbs. There have been petitions to BT, the local MP is involved, was even featured on a Channel 4 documentary report!

This has been going on for years now, round and round. Took me a whole day to update to Windows 8.1 on my surface and my pc.

The BBC is moving BBC3 online only, if only I could actually watch anything on iplayer!

If I moved to the countryside I'd probably get a faster connection!

Yeh, you hear the same sort of thing from a lot of the "New" estates, the Broadband companies wont lay lines/upgrade due to there not being enough demand to fund the work but there would be a demand eventually if they just lay the lines >.<

Its the same story all over the country :(
