Jesus enjoys a burger and a blunt

SEATTLE -- A Seattle restaurant chain is taking advantage of an odd combination of circumstances by creating a controversial Easter promotion featuring Jesus smoking marijuana.

Easter Sunday falls on April 20, or 4/20. The term 420 is also pop cultural term for smoking marijuana.

For the last two years, the Lunchbox Laboratory has used Jesus holding a sandwich to promote an Easter day 2-for-1 promotion of its signature dish called "Burger of the Gods."

So this year, the restaurant has added a lit joint in Jesus' hand as he cradles a sandwich in an advertisement that was only sent out to 15,000 people on the restaurant's email list.  The result is a 420 Jesus.

"This is not about Jesus, it's about the burger of the gods, its an actual burger that we have," said Lunchbox Laboratory owner John Schmidt.

The ad was only distributed once in the original email, but it has since been shared on social media and the web.

"I'm not your moral guide in life, I'm selling burgers" said Schmidt, who runs three Lunchbox Laboratory's in Seattle, Gig Harbor and Bellevue.  "It's not an anti Christian message, its a very peaceful message, Jesus enjoying a sandwich and a blunt."

LOL! This is just funny, if its offensive then you need to grow up a little and have a laugh at yourself and not take life so seriously.

Just waiting for someone to compare it to displaying a picture of Mohammed.

Do wonder just how godly this burger was tho... pics?

Am hungry.....

Myself, not religious, however, I would see that peoples would find it offensive.

Maybe they should stick an image of Allah up during Eid dancing with the Village People, that would go down a riot!

This company wants to whip up controversy, not have their heads lopped off.

I thought that is what they wants, attention and advertising!

That would spark militant action in the Middle East. Like the so-called video that sparked Benghazi.

Not really useful if you're too dead to enjoy the business you get from your controversial ad.

Ad does not actually say 'Jesus'.

What about the burger king ice cream packaging which was said to look like Allah!

Here

The picture of the man on the first post in this thread is what usually Jesus is depicted as looking like.

So whom ever done the advert knew exactly what they were doing.

Many 1960's hippies also looked like this. ;)

Seeing as the image of Jesus is open to interpretation as no one knows exactly what he looked like, I do not understand how this is offensive. Besides, wasn't Jesus "of the Gods"?

Also, it looks more like a joint or a self-rolled cigarette then a blunt to me.

^^ I smoke cigarettes (more occasionally now), but that's disgusting. :-(

I'm surprised it was just marijuana.

My best bet would have been that he was a crystal meth addict. When a guy think he can walk on water and transform water into wine ...

I find this utterly offensive.  And yes I am a grown man and a Christian.

This isn't a "Laugh at yourself" situation.  And Jesus, is to be taken seriously (at least for me)
