Daedroth
Hello, I am planning on buying a Google Nexus as my next phone, but I'm unsure whether to buy in the near future, or wait until October/November to see if there's a new model announced/released (there might not be). My question is, when they accounced the Nexus 5, at what point did they stop sales of the Nexus 4? I don't want it to be too large, anything 5.5" or larger may be a bit cumbersome. If I wait for an accouncement, from last years' time scale, will I still have time to buy the Nexus 5 after the announcement?
Seahorsepip Veteran Posted July 31, 2014 Veteran Share Posted July 31, 2014 Nexus 4 is still available except in the playstore. And it's cheaper now too because it's a older model. So simply said a phone will always be available even after 3 years. Personally I think the nexus 5 won't be replaced this year, the next nexus phone might be a additional phone in the playstore but not a replacement, it's just too soon to replace it. Anibal P
Google releases a developer Nexus phone yearly, sets the standard for the next 12 months, there might also be a tablet Rumors of the Nexus program dying were just that unsubstantiated rumors, after IO the top guy in the Nexus program said it wasn't going anywhere. As for the hardware itself rumor now have it, see how that works, that Motorola is going to be making the Nexus 5.5/6 for November If I were to be in the market for a Nexus, I would at least wait for the official announcement of the 6 and if for some reason you don't like what you see, then get the Nexus 5, prices will drop just before or after the announcement

It isn't available from most retailers, including the large phone stores and when looking on stores such as Vodaphone, O2, EE, etc. Google releases a developer Nexus phone yearly, sets the standard for the next 12 months, there might also be a tablet Rumors of the Nexus program dying were just that unsubstantiated rumors, after IO the top guy in the Nexus program said it wasn't going anywhere. I'm wondering if the same would happen again if a new model is announced.

It's only available without a contract in most stores yes, the nexus 4 is available right now for around 200 usd in online stores. And there are still online shops which give you free choice in the phone you want with your contract which means you can also get a nexus 4 with a contract. Most certainly they will stop stocking the nexus 5 when a replacement model is there and they will sell the remaining stock for a lower price or with cheaper contracts. I bought my own brand new nexus 5 for 250 usd on ebay which was a limited time offer ^^
