DocM
Want to read about someone who is old-school git 'er done? Read these about Detroit's 'walking commuter' Mr. James Robinson, who has walked 21 miles to work, and 21 miles back, for 10 years. Dry, wet, snow or subzero wind chills. Near perfect attendance, for $10.55/hr. Eventually his story got out and area students set up a GoFundMe account to help him out, and others pitched in as well. Now he's talking to kids about stick-to-it-iveness. neufuse Veteran Posted February 19, 2015 Veteran Share Posted February 19, 2015 so he walked 21 miles... average walking speed is about 3-4mph so that's 7hrs to walk?... something feels like there is something missing to the story.. it says he will take a bus pat way, but still walking 21 miles would take forever
DaveGreen93
He rides buses part-way but walks about 21 miles in round trips to a factory So not 42 miles a day like you stated. 21 total sounds a bit more plausible.
neufuse Veteran Posted February 19, 2015 Veteran Share Posted February 19, 2015 So not 42 miles a day like you stated. 21 total sounds a bit more plausible. that's still about 7 hours of walking time... and he only sleeps 2hrs a day?
DaveGreen93
that's still about 7 hours of walking time... and he only sleeps 2hrs a day? I couldn't manage that! But, good on him to do what it takes to make a living.
