Because Bitdefender costs money, and the free version is so gimped that it barely provides the protection of an on-demand scanner. But I have used the paid version via giveaways and it brought my system to a crawl. I couldn't multitask due to HDD thrashing, unpacking RAR files took 4 times longer, loading games off my SSD took the time of a conventional HDD, CPU usage  through the roof, choppy video playback when playing from Bluray ISOs, etc.

With Qihoo 360 you get their engines with VASTLY superior performance that is near transparent and not perceptively slower. I can game, I can video edit, I can unpack files, my SSD feels SSD speed, I don't see its background processes shooting to 100% CPU, etc.

Your too funny. Qihoo was caught with their pants down again. They have been taken to court several times. But yet you fight for the company? Lol. I guess they lined your pockets. Panda Free is a far better choice if you are in need of a free

antivirus.

360 Total Security was submitted with Bitdefender's engine already enabled. It performed great. That's not the default starting point, however. But, it's how it should be set up by the user, along with Avira's engine being enabled. This doesn't make the product bad. It's not. It means that the marketing people at Qihoo acted extremely foolishly. They just learned the hard way. Someone might take, or have already taken, a bullet for the boneheaded mismatched product submission. They should ship it to everyone with Bitdefender enabled!

Panda Free is a far better choice if you are in need of a free

What you should do is this:

1) take a spare machine,

2) load it up with as much malware as you can in an hour by going to free download sites, warez sites, streaming porn sites, tv streaming sites etc, download and installing EVERYTHING and ANYTHING that you are asked.

3) Create a malware infested image you can easily revert to.

4) Systematically install the protection suite/program you wish to test.

5) Update, scan, remove what you can.

6) Reboot.

7) Rescan. If clear, install malwarebytes and scan for what you have missed.

8) Restore your malware infested image, rinse and repeat with another protection suite for testing.

You will see just how bad Panda (and most others) really are and how 360TS is pretty good when compared to most others.

Symantec, McAfee and Kaspersky also had issues in the past. About 5 years ago after a Windows update anyone using Norton products could not boot. At least they are not in and out of court and cheating on tests. If your system is properly backed up then who cares if Panda had a false positive which took out your pc.

Panda did not have to cheat to achieve high scores. Why are you people supporting such a unprofessional company? It's rather pathetic.

Qihoo needed to use the Bitdefender engine in order to achieve high results. Then why would you use such a product? So if a Honda 2000 won 10 races then you popped the hood realizing that the Honda was actually using a Nissan GTR engine would you still think the Honda 2000 is awesome?

So what you're saying is they used the tools that the software package provides? How dare they.

I know it's not as simple as that but you're making a bigger deal out of this than needs to be made. And your fanaticism over it is kind of strange.

Lol......................Panda scored #1 many of times by using only their cloud engine. Avira scored #1 by using only their engine. Kaspersly, Bitdefender. Emsisoft and Eset use only their engines. Qihoo's does not trust there own QVM engine so they borrow Avira's and Bitdefenders. Which of course is still not exactly the same engines. So if these companies I listed succeed on their own why can't Qihoo? So you borrow someone eles's technology and you want praise? Lol

I would think Honda 2000 is awesome if Honda gave me a Nissan GTR Engine.

That would mean I just got a an Engine in an $101,000 car for $28,000!!!!

this is an odd statement

While you are correct that 360TS manipulated the results, its not results they woulnd't have gotten anyways in the real world. Was it stupid? Sure. What it unethical? Sure. Was it cheating? Yes. The person who decided to do this should be fired.

You never said the year. Could have been Honda 2000 2009 with a 2009 Nissan GTR Engine

Honda 2000 2009 looks like retails for around $28,000

Nissan GTR 2009 Looks like retails for around $38,000 - $96,000

In all honesty, it would probably be much better if someone just closed this thread.

GTR707 makes it very clear that he hates Qihoo and it seems to be a hate that is extremely personal for some dumb reason. Why this amount of hate over a company cheating on an A/V test? You honestly think they're the first to have done anything like this? You're a fool if you think they are.

Nobody in this thread has been able to have any intelligent discussion with GTR707 because his hate takes over and he just goes the insult route because he has nothing to actually discuss. He hates Qihoo and cheaters. I think that's all he wants people to know and that's the only thing he's done well in the thread.

I think you need to do your research. Get your facts straight and come back. Qihoo cheated period. Qihoo did not submit there English version. They submitted an lettered version of their Chinese product. Every test it was the Chinese product. AV Comparatives and AV Test.org have never tested 360 Total Security as featured on this site.

Completely irrelevant to what I posted, go back and re-read, and feel free to ask for help if there's something you don't understand in my previous comment. You don't have to be shy if you don't understand something, you can just ask for it to be explained to you in very simple terms :)

Did any of you actually take time to read and know what happened? Every other forum is dumping Qihoo. Qihoo cheated. AV Comparatives and AVTest.org got together and confirmed this. Qihoo is a pathetic company for doing this and the fact that you people still support them is just as bad.

Obvious you know nothing about cars. No where was I talking price. A GTR engine alone is around $40,000. But if someone dropped a GTR engine into a Honda 2000 and won a race they only won because they were using someone elses engine. Just like Qihoo. Get it now. It's called cheating. A-Rod only got tons of home runs due to using enhance drugs. Therefore he is a cheater.

Qihoo wins = Using someone elses engine

Honda 2000 wins = Using someone elses engine

A-Rod hits homerun records = Using enhancement drugs

Nascar driver wins= Using an illegal down force rear spoiler

All the above are examples of cheating. Need I say more.

I really don't see much of a problem to be honest. Yes, they may have cheated on a test, but it's not exactly the end of the world and isn't really a cause for everyone to boycott thm. Their products have served me well for the past year or so and are significantly better than a lot of the others I've tried.

It's not like the other big companies whose products we all use day in-day out are all saints either.
