DocM Posted May 24, 2015 Share Posted May 24, 2015 Elliot Rodger was under mental health care from age 8, then when he became an adult at 18 ceased it. Before the attack his parents contacted the police because of his erratic behavior and threatening YouTube videos. Nothing was done. Many missed opportunities, ranging from weaknesses in mental health laws which make it hard to involuntarily enforce treatment (even for families), to the misperception by some mental health providers that its improper to notify the Federal background check database for gun purchases that someone should be on the no purchase list.
