Tax warrants against 7-year-old Indiana girl

 PIKE CO., IN (WFIE) -

A Pike County woman is trying to keep her 7-year-old daughter out of jail.

Chynna Beckley says her daughter, Cadance, has been receiving military benefits ever since her father was killed in an accident near Camp Atterbury before she was born.

Beckley says for the last few years, she’s been unable to pay taxes owed to the state of Indiana and the IRS. That’s because since Beckley and Cadance’s father were not married, Beckley’s name isn’t listed on the account. She’s tried to get the issue revolved, but says no one will speak to her about making a payment.

The latest warrant mentions placing a lien on Cadance’s property or finding other ways to satisfy the court.

Beckley says the Attorney General’s Office has requested a death certificate, in hopes of resolving this issue.
