linked
Ok, I play the guitar/bass and sing. I'm looking to record a few songs on my computer, but every time I do, the quality is subpar. I can post a clip for you to hear, if you like. Right now, I'm using - Acid Pro 4.0 - SBAudigy2plat - Plugging in the guitar's quarter-inch cord into the Audigy's Line-in2 - Recording to 192kb/s - No distortion on the guitar - Standard PC Mic plugged into the Audigy for vocals What all can I do to improve this? Better mic? Better sound card? Better software? I'm not EXACTLY looking for studio-quality recording, I'd just like it if my guitar didn't sound like I was playing on a Fuzzface when the tone is suposed to be Clean... (For you non-guitarists, it sounds choppy and harsh, like heavy metal guitar, when it's supposed to be a cleaner, almost accoustic sound) and the vocals sound... just really bad. Hum
 Definitely need a better mic -- not a great frequency range with PC mics. Do a Net search to find something better, or ask here: http://www.cyberfret.com/forums/index.php http://www.zentao.com/ubbcgi/Ultimate.cgi?action=intro http://www.guitariff.com/ http://www.guitarists.net/forum/index.php

BTallack
I would advise buying a condensor microphone, and either a small mixer with a pre-amp, or just a pre-amp.
