Bug0049
Does 4053 contact microsoft in anyway... to just say something like "hey look I'm here" ? I know windows will contact for error reports and windows update. Is that the only 2? in other words.... would it contact microsoft just to let them know that someone is running it? Redestium
yea...... Then just be rid of it and don't worry. It's not worth it right now anyway.
Bug0049
Then just be rid of it and don't worry. It's not worth it right now anyway. Well, its like having a game and knowing the cheat codes.... and trying not to use them... its hard!.... I just wanna see the new features...I like to play with it. its not like I'm not gonna buy it when it comes out...
Bug0049
So... am I not actually going to get an answer?
configure Veteran Posted March 8, 2004 Veteran Share Posted March 8, 2004 Most likely not. Even if it does, I doubt that any one at MS is going to care that joe is running LH when he's not supposed to be. I know windows will contact for error reports and windows update. Is that the only 2? You can turn those features off if you are paranoid. :)
Hurmoth
Well, when you first bootup Longhorn 4053, it makes you activate before you can use the OS ... if you fill in the optional information, it contacts Microsoft and they'll know who it is then (plus, I think it also sends the IP Address as well). configure Veteran Posted March 8, 2004 Veteran Share Posted March 8, 2004 I still don't think that they care :p
Bug0049
Well I doubt many people activate it. What about if you use an activation crack, or one of those cracks that keeps the activation windows from appearing. Will it then?
configure Veteran Posted March 9, 2004 Veteran Share Posted March 9, 2004 Probably not. I can't think of anything to be sent home if the user never actually activated their copy.
