This is my Galaxy Nexus, not much customisation as I had to reset it as it was playing up when using the dock and I haven't had much time to set it up again yet:

I see you have an app for Blackboard there, does that give you as push notification if a lecture is cancelled?

It does if new content is added, they are redesigning it though because it looks like ass on Android at the moment.
