Ridley Scotts "Prometheus" (2012)

I think Alien and the small conversation Bishop had in Aliens sure explains why everyone distrusts Androids so much in the Alien universe :) I'm hoping for more of the same from our friend David in Prometheus :D

Well, ya, they did explain it, but I want to see it. I think we might get that scene in this movie though. Would be a good way to tie them together as well.

How is this a prequel to Aliens?

I thought this was an official prequel to Alien, so it ends roughly where Alien begins with the ship discovering the face hugger

yeah the small david trailer/feature was good, i think there is going to be that dynamic of good/bad question mark, especially when david said he can make decisions which ordinary humans might not be able to do :D

all military stuff is built with the " cheapest " price, Airforce 1 is still run on XP systems, as well as Marine 1.

Even worse look at this.

lol look at the os and the lcd screen in this pict ;) like i said the monitors in the old movies don't make sense but the hardware and os actually do since it's military stuff and mining stuff.

What's wrong with that? It's rock solid!

I know but some people said this movie can't not work as an alien spiritual prequel since the spaceship is more technically advanced than the ones featured in Alien and Aliens. Since the ones in Alien and Aliens are a mining cargo and a military spaceship and the one in Prometheus is a scientific spaceship i think it is actually logicial for it to be more advanced.

Same. I'm thinking this movie will have the android that we hear about in the first Alien. The reason why everyone distrust androids so much will hopefully be revealed :)

think it was just Ripley that distrusted androids and thats cause one tried to kill her...

Ah, my memory isn't what it used to be. I kept thinking she already had a hatred for them due to some "urban legend" of a android freak out attack on some people. But ya, it was in Alien when she was attacked by Ash that set that distrust in her. Damn lol.

Prometheus has been passed uncut with a 15 certificate in the UK.

The news follows reports that Ridley Scott's sci-fi blockbuster will be given an R rating in the US.

Scott previously hinted that studio executives could tone down the content of the film to secure a more lucrative PG-13 or 12A certificate, but it will arrive in both territories without cuts or edits.

Prometheus, which stars Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba and Michael Fassbender, tells the story of explorers on an alien planet. It marks the director's first sci-fi venture since 1982's Blade Runner.

The movie will be connected to the Alien universe, but Scott has insisted that it will stand alone and tell its own story.

Prometheus is scheduled for release on June 1 in the UK and June 8 in the US.

To promote the release of Prometheus, FOX France have transformed an abandoned underground train station in Paris. They have reopened the Saint-Martin station, located between R?publique and Strasbourg-Saint-Denis, on Line 9. This station was closed in 1939 and has not been in use ever since. The promotion will run from 16 to 25 May.

Wow, really, really, REALLY, looking forward to this movie!

I watched the teasers previously, but am trying to steer clear of the main trailers for fear that they may give too much of the story away.

The viral clips are still okay, though, and this latest one posted above is chillingly good!

I may even have to make a trip to another city to watch in in IMAX-3D.

Yet another movie where we find aliens and they are hostile.. How original...

Can't we find a new earth and they actually be friendly?

What would be the story then? Finding a new planet with inhabitants that are friendly sounds pretty boring and is more inline with the Discovery Channel, not a major box office film.

There are plenty of sci-fi books with friendly aliens and they seem to work out fine. It is possible but main catch wouldnt be action but something more intricate like character development or interesting conversations.

Anyhow i am still very eager to see Prometheus :)

    • Microsoft's fast coding model MAI-Code-1-Flash comes to Copilot Business and Enterprise by Karthik Mudaliar Microsoft’s recently announced MAI-Code-1-Flash model is now generally available to GitHub Copilot Business and Copilot Enterprise customers. With this support, organizations can have more centralized policy controls and billing while finally being able to use Microsoft’s lightweight, first-party coding model. According to GitHub’s announcement, Business and Enterprise plan administrators must enable the MAI-Code-1-Flash policy in Copilot settings before developers can access the model. Microsoft says that MAI-Code-1-Flash is for fast, iterative coding work rather than the most demanding architectural or debugging tasks. GitHub’s official model comparison page says that the model is great for "general-purpose coding and writing," while it excels at fast, accurate code completions and explanations Microsoft introduced MAI-Code-1-Flash on June 2 as part of a broader collection of internally developed MAI models. GitHub subsequently expanded support to Copilot CLI, the Copilot cloud agent, GitHub.com chat, GitHub Mobile, Visual Studio, JetBrains IDEs, Eclipse, and Xcode, but said support for managed Business and Enterprise customers was still on the way. In Microsoft’s own benchmark testing, MAI-Code-1-Flash scored 51.2% on SWE-Bench Pro, compared with 35.2% for Anthropic’s Claude Haiku 4.5. Microsoft also claimed that the model used up to 60% fewer tokens on SWE-Bench Verified. Do note that these are vendor-run results rather than independent measurements. The model is billed at provider list pricing under GitHub’s usage-based system. GitHub currently lists MAI-Code-1-Flash at $0.75 per million input tokens, $0.075 per million cached input tokens, and $4.50 per million output tokens. For organizations, the main incentive to use MAI-Code-1-Flash is likely to be efficiency rather than maximum capability. A smaller model that responds quickly and limits unnecessary output is quite useful for repetitive agent tasks at scale, especially after GitHub Copilot’s move toward usage-based billing. The "Flash" model is recommended for fast work and not necessarily for huge repositories with loads of context. It's better if teams compare their output with other larger models, especially if they're working on security-sensitive changes and complex, multi-file work.
    • yes AND no the "original" or plain/normal Optiplex 7010 won't be getting any more new firmware updates BUT the Optiplex SFF/SFF Plus {small form factor}, Micro/Micro Plus & Tower/Tower Plus 7010 editions DO get new updates such as this new one   and here are similar guides from the Dell web site for Dell systems: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000390990/secure-boot-transition-faq https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000347876/microsoft-2011-secure-boot-certificate-expiration
