I think it's how IPB (if I am correct in that this forum uses it) manages queries of the database (to lessen the load) but could we have the choice to see MORE than the previous 5 topics & posts we've made? Why? I've not been here in years, yet my account is more than 6 years old and I've only about 93ish posts but even I can remember what I had created (topics) or posted when I came here years ago. Wonder if IPS would change it . . . . . hm.:shiftyninja:

So why do you want the forums to remind you about something that you already know?

I agree with the idea, since there are times that I remember posting something but I don't remember the details and would like to find it again, but your reasoning seems a bit bizarre.

That said, the forums themselves don't stretch back to their creation date, they only cover 9 pages, so having a complete history of your topics and posts wouldn't be possible.

Nope, thats the filter on them. Click "show filter options" on the bottom of the forums and set the Time Frame to "Show All"

You'll find the BPN forum, for example, goes back 1269 pages ;)

I think IPB 1.X & 2.X did show ALL your topics & posts, weather IPS (Invision Power Services) changed it to lessen server/database load, I don't know. Also as to the "show filter options" there should be a option in your user-control-panel that will show ALL threads without having to click the "show all" option.

Well would you look at that...the General Discussion stretches back to 2002 though, were the forums not created at the same time as the main site? Or maybe one of the updates to the forums meant that older posts couldn't be saved...

See these buttons:

The filter-style buttons above your about me section are simply for a quick overview. The buttons on the left allow you to search much further back.

I'll point out that those buttons still don't allow a complete index of your posts and topics. According to that function, my oldest topic that I created was back in March, which I'm pretty sure isn't the case. However, they do solve the OP's problem of showing more than the previous 6 topics...

Why not just do an advanced forum search with your member name lol?

I guess that would work since all the posts and topics of the forums are still available to view. I'm not going to try it right now though, since I'm quickly losing interest in the subject at hand

"Find Posts" only shows your recent posts up to a maximum of 200 posts. If you want to look at your entire post history, use the advanced search feature.

Simply fill in the appropriate fields: Find author & Find by date.

I just used it to find your very first post (Posted 02 June 2004 - 16:31): https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/173560-word-association/page__p__2207118__fromsearch__1#entry2207118

Also note that for some odd reason, by default the most recent posts only go back by one year. I think that's the case even if you have less than 200 posts. You can easily adjust the time period using search advanced settings.

Ah, yes, I forgot. View all Topics/Posts is limited to one year, which, for the most part, should be far back enough. Using the advanced search, as suggested, allows you to see further back if necessary. This simply helps save resources.
