Desire broken screen?

Hi all,

I had my desire in my pocket yesterday, and upon taking it out (after doing nothing at all)

The screen had gone pink at the bottom, then later on blue, and then it spread blue all the way to the top, cant see much on the bottom of the screen now, and its working its way up.

there are no cracks on the glass, so i cant see how this is possible??!

It is still under warrenty so should hopefully be able to get it replaced free, but have a feeling there going to be cocky and say i dropped it etc,

any idea why it would have done this? and how much it would cost to get it repaired? I have seen a screen on the net for ?80 (AMOLED as mine is)

The HTC Desire does not have an AMOLED screen, it has an SLCD screen.

You wouldn't find real AMOLED's sold by anyone right now anyways, so what you found was fake and as of this moment, you can only go through Samsung to get it one anyways and that's for Galaxy S phones, not that you have one.

I'm not sure if the same can be said for SLCD's, they could be real ones that you find. You'd have to do the research this yourself, maybe check out the XDA forums and search the HTC Desire area and see if others have repaired it themselves and where they bought from. I think it would be best for you to first go through your carrier. If that is not possible, try seeing if HTC will replace it and for how much before going ahead and repairing it yourself.

The HTC Desire does not have an AMOLED screen, it has an SLCD screen.

Early models of the Desire were manufactured with AMOLED screens. They were later substituted for SLCD due to the shortage of AMOLED panels.

Thanks, but as the above poster says, it is AMOLED, mine was one of the first.
