LG confirms the G6 will offer 5.7-inch QHD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio

Although we have heard a ton of news in regards to Samsung's next handset, the rumors for LG's G6 have been fairly scarce. But it looks like the company is ready to start building some hype around the device as it has confirmed that it will offer something special.

Although it is not quite known when the G6 will launch, reps for LG have stated that it will make an appearance in the very near future. Like most major handset manufacturers, LG could use the large stage set at Mobile World Congress, or may hold its own private event. While the design could look similar to its predecessor, the firm has confirmed that the handset will offer a large 5.7-inch QHD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The display will offer better visibility under sunlight, a slightly higher resolution than standard QHD displays coming in at 2880 x 1440, and will also be thinner in size. This is in stark contrast to its previous handset that offered quite a smaller display measuring in at 5.2-inches.

Many manufacturers are in a favorable position this year due to Samsung's Galaxy Note7 fiasco that occurred late last year. While it isn't a guaranteed leg up, it does give LG a better shot, due to the slowed momentum of Samsung. There were many things that were wrong with the G5, but if LG navigates the waters and takes customer feedback into consideration, it could have a winner on its hands.
