Apple confirms September 9 'Awe Dropping' iPhone 17 event

It is that time of the year when Apple and other tech companies announce new hardware. One of the most prominent events of the season is, of course, the launch of new iPhones, which usually happens in September. 2025 is no exception, and Apple has now officially revealed when the iPhone 17 Series will debut.

Mark your calendar: The next iPhone is coming on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 (the previous leak turned out to be right), at the special "Awe Dropping" Apple Event in Cupertino. Tim Cook announced the event in a post on X:

The iPhone 17 series is expected to bring some substantial changes to what many believe is a stalled design that has barely changed since 2020 and the iPhone 12 Series. The iPhone 17 is getting a bar-shaped camera island and fresh colors, kicking off a new three-year redesign cycle. One of the biggest changes in the lineup will be the rumored iPhone 17 "Air," which will replace the Plus model. The Air will offer users a much thinner iPhone, albeit at the cost of fewer cameras and other compromises.

Alongside the new iPhones, Apple will launch the redesigned iOS 26 and other operating systems that feature the new "Liquid Glass" design language. The latter sparked quite a controversy among users after the initial launch, and Apple tweaked the looks quite a bit during the testing phase this summer.

As usual, Apple will stream the event on its official website and its YouTube channel. The presentation kicks off on September 9, 2025, at 1 PM ET, 10 AM PT.
