Following the 2022 announcement of Judas, the Ghost Story Games team, formerly Irrational Games, has barely given any details about the title"s development or gameplay. However, the title"s first-ever developer update landed today, giving an update on how the project is progressing and a look at one of the main features of the action title, which the team is calling Villainy.
"We know, we know... we’ve been silent for a while. It takes a lot of time and energy to make marketing materials like trailers, and we’re trying to focus all our efforts on finishing Judas," begins the new developer log. "But we also miss the days of having a more direct relationship with you, the gamer, so we thought, "Why not start releasing some dev logs?""
Ghost Story Games says that it wants to communicate more frequently going forward to showcase what it is working on, but without spoiling the entire concept of Judas. These specifically won"t be any "fancy trailers" or "super polished final imagery."
Villainy is the newest major upgrade the title has received in development, a feature that lets players choose who will be the villain as they progress through the game, something that"s inspired by Shadow of Mordor"s Nemesis system. It"s unclear if this is talking about the ultimate villain players focus on at the end of the game or some sort of side experience.
"In Judas, your actions will attract members of the Big 3 to you as friends. But ignore one of them enough, and they become the VILLAIN," explains the blog post. "From there, they will get access to a new suite of powers to subvert your actions and goals."
Players will get to know these characters quite well as the game progresses, per the developer, and the choice to abandon them will be a hard decision. "The Big 3 are all going to be competing for your favor and attention. They can bribe you, save you in battle, talk **** about the other characters, and share with you their darkest secrets," the team adds. "But eventually, you"ve got to decide who you trust and who you don"t."
Judas does not have a release date attached to it just yet. It is coming to PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 platforms.
