Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 passes five million copies sold, studio teases new content

The breakout indie hit of 2025, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, has passed another sales milestone, and it"s a rather big one. Developer Sandfall Interactive announced today that the fantasy RPG has sold over five million copies across all platforms. Celebrating the milestone, the studio also announced a surprise update that will add brand-new content to the experience.

"We’ve been completely blown away by the constant support from so many of you - Your artwork, your stories, your cosplays and your endless creativity has been loved and appreciated by all of us," said the developer. "We could not be more grateful, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you."

Aside from the copies of games sold, the studio also revealed that original soundtrack, composed by Lorien Testard, has now reached over 333 million track streams since release.

As for the update, it"s focused on giving players new content to experience in the form of a new environment, more boss battles, fresh cosmetics, and more.

Here"s everything announced as included in the upcoming update:

  • A new, playable environment, taking the characters of Expedition 33 to a brand-new location with new enemy encounters and surprises to discover.
  • Challenging, new boss battles for late-game players to overcome.
  • New costumes for each member of the Expedition, giving even more customization options for players throughout their adventure.
  • New text and UI game localizations into Czech, Ukrainian, Latin American Spanish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai, and Indonesian, bringing the total number of supported languages to 19.
  • And more to come…

The studio also shared a teaser image from the update depicting what looks to be a child"s playroom with a drawing in focus, seen above, which may be familiar to those who have already played through the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 campaign.
