EA delays Battlefield 6 Season 2 launch, plans to bring back community testing

Despite having a fantastic start, Battlefield 6 hasn"t managed to keep up the momentum as a live service entry. The first-person shooter is currently in its launch season, which kicked off on October 28, 2025, and while it was supposed to conclude on January 20, 2026, EA has decided to extend the season and delay the next content drop to focus on community feedback.

Season 1"s end and Season 2"s launch are now slated to happen on February 17 instead. The developer says that this time will be used to polish and refine the next content update, with the decision being taken due to community feedback. It will be releasing a stopgap update soon to extend Season 1 with more challenges and rewards to keep players active.

"During our ongoing development, we"ve continued to review community feedback and, in order to keep our promise, determined that our best path forward is to extend Season 1 and give ourselves extra time to further polish and refine Season 2," said the development team in a blog post.

The development team says that it will reveal details about what will be included in the reworked February update and the 2026 roadmap soon.

As for the extended Season 1 content, this includes brand-new weekly challenges, extra time to finish the current battle pass, as well as a bonus path that contains XP boosts, skins, and other customization items to unlock.

At the same time, the studio plans to bring back its Battlefield Labs initiative. Originally available prior to Battlefield 6"s launch, these involved closed sessions that brought in community members to test launch content like maps, modes, and weapons. The same system will now be used to test upcoming seasons for the game instead.
