Today, Google unveiled the Pixel 10a, its newest budget-friendly smartphone. Compared to the Pixel 9a, the Pixel 10a offers only a handful of modest upgrades, but it keeps the same starting price, making it a solid value pick.
The Pixel 10a features a completely flat back design without a camera bump and comes in Lavender, Berry, Fog, and Obsidian colors. The satin-finish aluminum frame is 100% recycled, and the plastic back cover is 81% recycled to make the device more environmentally sustainable.
Google has also made the Pixel 10a more durable with IP68 water and dust protection and an upgraded Corning Gorilla Glass 7i cover glass to protect the display.
The display size remains the same 6.3 inches as its predecessor, but it is 11% brighter. While the Pixel 10a and 9a offer the same wired charging speed, the Pixel 10a offers 10W wireless charging compared to the 7.5W of the Pixel 9a. Battery capacity and the estimated battery life remain the same.
For the first time, Google has included the Satellite SOS feature in the A-series, allowing users to contact emergency services even when they are without a Wi-Fi or cellular network.
The Pixel 10a also has the same 48MP main camera and 13MP ultrawide camera as the Pixel 9a. However, Google is bringing Auto Best Take and Camera Coach features to improve the imaging experience.
The performance and AI capabilities of the Pixel 10a will remain the same as those of the Pixel 9a, since both devices are powered by the same custom-built Google Tensor G4 chip. Like other recent Pixel smartphones, the new Pixel 10a will come with seven years of OS, security, and Pixel Feature Drops.
The Google Pixel 10a will be shipping from March 5 at the Google Store and major carriers in the US, starting at $499.
