Google updates Daydream, allows users to check controller battery life just by looking at it

Google has now issued an update for its Daydream app that brings it to version 1.4.170314103. Although it doesn"t offer a ton of new attributes, the new version does offer one very cool added feature, allowing users to check the battery life of their controller by simply looking down at it in the Daydream Home, Quick Settings or Play Store in VR screens.

Beyond the new controller update, users can now toggle whether they want to see notifications while in VR. Google also added the ability to sign up for a "Daydream Newsletter" in its settings menu which, unsurprisingly, will keep you up to date via email on all things Daydream. Last but not least, there have been improvements made to the performance of Daydream, along with its reliability. You can check out the update notes verbatim below.

WHAT"S NEW

• Controller battery indicator is now available. Simply look down at your controller when you’re in Daydream Home, Quick Settings or Play Store in VR.

• Sign up for the “Daydream Newsletter” in Settings to stay updated on the latest news, offers and more.

• Choose whether to show notifications in VR by toggling the option in Quick Settings.

• Improved performance and reliability.

If you have a Daydream compatible handset and would like to give it a try, you can purchase a Daydream View headset for $79. If the price sounds too steep, you might want to hold off on the purchase, as Google has been known in the past to discount the product.
