Samsung has partnered with Netflix to release a new special theme for Galaxy devices, allowing fans to relive the sci-fi show on their smartphones. The South Korean giant is rolling out a new Galaxy theme based on Stranger Things, which recently completed its final season.
Galaxy users in 186 countries can download the exclusive Stranger Things theme and wallpaper collection through the Galaxy Store, starting January 12. If you own a Samsung Galaxy smartphone, you"ll see a Stranger Things banner at the top of the screen when you open the Galaxy Store app. Alternatively, you can search for the TV show in the app to find the theme collection.
The pop culture show set in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, in the 1980s, has been around for almost a decade now. After debuting in July 2016, Stranger Things released its fifth and final season last year in parts from November through December.
Stranger Things raked in over 59.6 million views in the first five days after its Season 5 Part 1 was released. Its series finale, Chapter Eight: The Rightside Up, was released on December 31.
It"s not the first time Netflix has explored interactive ways to promote the show among its audience. The streaming giant previously released an official Stranger Things game before season 2 and a new skin pack in Minecraft. Last month, the Upside Down emerged in Microsoft Flight Simulator following a crossover in Minecraft.
Interestingly, the third season of Stranger Things was set in 1985, which is the same year Microsoft released Windows 1.0. The Redmond giant teamed up with Netflix to release a special edition "Windows 1.1" app on its store. Samsung and Netflix previously worked together on a Stranger Things-inspired short film shot on the Galaxy S22 Ultra.
Samsung said the special theme package is free to download on Galaxy smartphones running Android 15 and Android 16, except for some models. Meanwhile, users with Android 8 and later can download Stranger Things wallpapers on their devices.
The free collection is available to those who download or launch the Netflix app. It will be available through February 22, featuring a special theme and five wallpapers with live-action characters and settings from Hawkins and the Upside Down.
