Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Fold has a foldable OLED display, 5G, and runs Windows 10 Pro

Back in May, Lenovo showed off a ThinkPad X1 tablet with a foldable OLED display. Now, the product has a name: the ThinkPad X1 Fold. Some things have changed since the original announcement, and of course, there are more details now.

The ThinkPad X1 Fold has a 13.3-inch 2048x1536 4:3 display, which means that it can be folded into two 9.6-inch 3:2 displays. There"s an external keyboard that comes bundled with the PC, and that will actually magnetically attach to the inside while you"re using it as a clamshell. If you want to use the full screen, you can use the stand to prop up the X1 Fold.

Interestingly, the X1 Fold runs Windows 10 Pro, although a Windows 10X model is coming when the new OS is available. When we got to check out the X1 Fold back in May, Windows 10 seemed quite awkward on the device, so luckily, Lenovo says that it"s using custom software for better productivity in different window arrangements.

Lenovo says that this is meant for people that frequently switch between their phone, tablet, and PC, creating something that bridges the gaps without making compromises. From productivity to media consumption, Lenovo wants the X1 Fold to be a winner.

It includes an Intel Core processor, which is currently unnamed. Presumably, it will be Tremont, which is also in Microsoft"s Surface Neo. There"s also 8GB RAM and up to 1TB SSD, all in a package that weighs under a kilogram.

Moreover, it supports 5G, using Qualcomm"s Snapdragon X55 modem. It"s unclear if this feature will be optional or if it will come standard, but being that it"s an Intel product, expect to pay a premium for 5G.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold will arrive in mid-2020, starting at $2,499. The ThinkPad X1 Fold Stand will run you $23.99.
