Microsoft announces its first Xbox game for Nintendo Switch 2

Microsoft had a surprise announcement at the Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025 event today, unveiling both the new Indiana Jones and the Great Circle DLC gameplay, as well as a brand-new platform for its games: the Nintendo Switch 2. Catch the DLC launch trailer above.

During the DLC, MachineGames says players will be diving deeper into rediscovering the tribe of giants, the Nephilim Order, that players see in the base game.

The story will kick off with Indiana Jones offering help to a young priest named Father Ricci, who is attempting to track down a mysterious artifact. The resulting journey expands into this separate storyline that takes the player beyond Vatican City to explore Rome"s streets and the crypts beneath it. As for enemies, Indie will face off against members of the Cult of Mithras.

The events of the DLC will take place during the main game, so this isn"t a sequel-like experience. "From foreboding crypts to the ancient River Tiber, players will visit stunning new locations throughout the city to the tune of a brand-new soundtrack as the adventure unfolds," adds Bethesda.

As for the Switch 2 release, this marks the first time Microsoft has announced a major first-party Xbox release for Nintendo platforms. While many had been expecting this year"s Call of Duty to land on the Switch 2 at launch, it was still missing from the announcement from earlier today, even though Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are still being supported.

Unfortunately, the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle does not have a release date yet. It is coming out sometime in 2026.

The Order of Giants DLC for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is releasing on September 4, 2025. It will be available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Moreover, Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade, Collector’s Edition, and Collector’s Bundle owners will be receiving the DLC for no extra charge at launch.
