Originally published February 24, 2026: Microsoft has delayed the launch of the new People Hub in Outlook Web. The feature was expected to reach General Availability this month with a complete rollout by mid-March, but Microsoft is now starting the rollout in late March with completion by the end of March. Microsoft made the change to its schedule yesterday and made it known through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
The People Hub is being updated in Outlook Web to give you a modern, multi-column view of your contacts. It also features fast search and a streamlined interface. The Redmond giant said it is “investing in fast, relevant search and modern contact management capabilities that deliver a high-quality experience for everyone.”
With the People Hub, your contacts will automatically be sorted into a unified view so they don’t create clutter. Your contacts will also be enriched with organizational profile information if it’s available. This feature could help you more quickly find contacts that are acquaintances, thanks to the additional professional information.
Microsoft mentions that with this feature launch, the toggle to switch off the “New Contacts” experience will be removed, which might annoy some users who now have to learn the new interface, which might take a bit of time or ruin workflows. Administrators will not need to take any action to enable the People Hub as it’s on by default.
In terms of preparation, Microsoft recommends training users on the new Contacts experience. It may also be worth it to update any internal documentation if they use the old interface. Microsoft noted that no compliance issues should arise as part of this update, so it shouldn’t create a headache in that way.
