Microsoft's Kinect can now be used to try on clothes

Xbox One users have been given a new online shopping experience today, thanks to the newly released Mall app. The third-party application allows Kinect owners to try on clothing and accessories via the motion sensor, and quickly purchase them using the PowaTag mobile app.

The Mall is the first Xbox One app to support a virtual changing room and offers access to clothing from many large brands for the comfort of the living room. The app has been designed by eCommerce firm Von Bismark and tightly integrates the "PowaTag" digital wallet application into the service, streamlining the checkout process.

“The Mall on Xbox One is the first giant step in our vision to create more beautiful, physically engaging ecommerce experience, delivered through the largest piece of visual real estate you own – the living room TV. The Xbox One is the perfect device to launch on – it’s incredibly powerful, built for smooth interaction and with the Kinect camera we can bring you as close to physically trying on the clothing as you will ever get when shopping online.”

The app currently offers a large catalog to residents of the United States but is expected to arrive in the United Kingdom and Canada in February 2016. The PowaTag mobile application is required for the fast checkout process, available from the Apple App Store and Google Play.
