Rematch update finally delivers crossplay and in-game player reporting

Almost three months after the launch of Rematch, developer Sloclap is now rolling out a couple of hugely requested features for the multiplayer football/soccer experience: crossplay and player reporting. Arriving as a part of the game"s third major update, it also touts a bunch of balance tweaks and fixes for the experience.

With the addition of crossplay, PC (Steam and Microsoft Store), Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 players, as well as Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass subscribers, will now all be in a single matchmaking pool. Cross-platform social features are here too, enabling the creation of parties that are made up of players from any platform.

Crossplay can also be turned off from the settings for anyone who wants to stick to their own platform"s players. However, Sloclap recommends keeping it enabled to make matchmaking queues shorter. It doesn"t look like cross-platform progression is coming to the game, though, with the studio saying it has no plans for the feature.

Meanwhile, the new in-game player reporting option will let players pick a reason when selecting the offender, with the report then being sent to Sloclap"s servers to "take action against the most egregious offenders."

The next major update is Patch 4, which will kick off Rematch Season 1. But it seems the developer has recognized that the recent string of delayed updates hasn"t sat well with the community. "We want to be extra sure when we announce the date of Season 1 launch, without saying the usual "tentative date" or "unless there are unforeseen issues" (this hasn’t worked out very well so far)," it adds.

Today"s update also carries mouse and keyboard control upgrades with new tap-aim modes, fixes for ball rollback and goalkeeper invulnerability bugs, promises fewer desyncs and animation glitches, more distinct visuals, and a lot more changes.
