Samsung Galaxy Note7 branding and specs leak

This year, the two top smartphone makers will have devices branded with the number seven out in the market as Samsung has already launched the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, while Apple could launch the iPhone 7 in a few months. In addition to these, Samsung might be skipping the number six for its Galaxy Note smartphone, which will directly be called the "Note7" according to leaked branding material.

The next Galaxy Note from Samsung is expected to launch on the 2nd of August, however, some of its specs and the device"s logo have been revealed by leakster, Evan Blass, on Twitter. Samsung has retained the Note5-like style of attaching the number with the name in case of the Note7 as well.

Blass has also leaked some of the hardware specifications of the phablet, which are as follows:

  • 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display
  • 64 GB of internal storage and support for microSD cards
  • 12-megapixel Dual Pixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera
  • IP68 rated water and dust proofing
  • Iris scanner

Other specifications that were leaked in the past include 6 GB of RAM and a USB Type-C connector. The chipset that will be used in the device is still a mystery, but could be a new version of Samsung"s own Exynos series or an iteration of the Snapdragon 820.
