You can now navigate Disney+ content on Google Assistant smart displays

Google announced today that it has rolled out support for Disney+ on Google Assistant smart displays. That means you can now stream Disney+ content directly on the Nest Hub and the Nest Hub Max, among others, using only your voice.

To start watching your favorite movies or TV shows on the streaming platform, you can simply say, “Hey Google, play ‘The Mandalorian’ on Disney+”, for example. Of course, you need to first link your Disney+ account in the Google Home or Assistant app before watching your favorite shows.

The new feature complements an existing capability that already allows you to stream Disney+ on Assistant-enabled smart displays using the Chromecast-supported Disney+ app by casting a TV show or movie from a compatible mobile device. What"s new with the latest change is that you can now stream content directly from the smart display.

In addition, you can use the smart display’s touchscreen to control playback by pausing, resuming, or skipping forwards and backward (which Google confirmed to The Verge). However, it"s not possible at the moment to browse content using touch controls. Gesture controls are supported, nevertheless. Available content includes movies and TV shows from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and more. The integration is available only in select markets worldwide.
