YouTube server outage takes videos down with "content isn't available" error

If you are unable to get access to YouTube videos when you are trying to play them, you are not alone as many users are confirming that it is currently down. Google has not confirmed this via any of its official handles yet however users are noticing a "content isn"t available, try again later" error message.

Downdetector is currently showing signs of activity from YouTube users as they are reporting the issue.

We will update this post when more details are available.

Update, January 27 2025, 12.00 am GST: So far Google or YouTube has not published any status update regarding the issue. Also, users are continuing to report issues sporadically on Downdetector and this has been going on since a while, with no signs of stopping apparently.

According to the various reports online, it appears to be a problem related to the use of adblockers and content blockers on YouTube. However, what is strange about the bug is that users even with premium YouTube accounts are reporting that they are seeing the problem.

In terms of fixes, users note that refreshing the tab can help reload the video back up. Others say that video playback is working as intended if a user does so without logging in, so it could be an account-specific bug.

Despite these, some users continue to report no success in playing their desired videos.
