Pc reboot

Recommended Posts

My pc is rebooting randomly . While playing games or not its totally random

Tried new psu.  New moyherboard.  Cpu not overheating.  Removed gpu. Removed rams (one ram at a time)

The only think that was left was the hard drive which i thought it was the problem from the get go and yes it turned out it is. I tried it in another pc and boom it restarted many times

So i said thats problem obviously

So before i buy a new i tried a 80 gb hdd . This drive hold 1 day than it started to reboot again .

I dont get whats happening here

Is my pc causing my HDD to break or smthing . Im really frustrated here

I literally tried everything.

If anyone knows what might be the case.  Help

Mob : h61

Cpu : i3 3220

I dont know how to see ram names or smth.  I didnt know if it was important at all

h61 is not any clue...

As for your RAM, open your case and look at it... (I think CPU-Z posts its make, too) ((I take you never opened your case? might be dust build-up))

by "etc", I meant motherboard make/model, CPU, CPU Cooler, GPU, hdd/ssd, psu make/wattage. (look in my sig)

Everything is important to a troubleshooter.

I would recommend replacing the sata cable connecting the hard drive to the motherboard. If bad, the cable could be currupting the data. When you say the HDD's are bad, bad how? Bad sectors or just corrupt data?

You mentioned new 80GB drive (or is it new used), but you didn't mention if you cloned your existing windows intsall or clean installed windows onto the new drive.

I would also recommend replacing the power cord. Maybe it's unreliable power coming out of the wall or just that outlet. Could also be a bad surge protector if it's pluged into one of those.

If it still reboots I would recommend a clean intsall of windows on the drive if you haven't done so already

I'm assuming it's not crashing and rebooting,  just rebooting.

That's good advice, it's easy for a cable to break and not notice it, especially if work was recently done in the computer.

This answer is for all three comments

As for rama im pretty sure they are a good combination with my mob and cpu even qith gpu

Cause this problem wasnt there feom. The get go

As for the new windows instal

Yes its totally new

And all the hdd were formated

I literally deleted everything in both the old hdd and the new 80 gb hdd and reinstalled the windows on both and same problem happened in both

By the way i forgot to mention that i put my hdd into my friend s pc and boom.  It rebooted many times so that removes all the possibilities that other parts are making my pc reboot

But still the 80 gb made contact with the 500 gb so i thought it was a virus thing

But when i formated it

It still rebooting

So im pretty sure the problem is in the hard drive . So i already know whats the problem

I just wanna know why or how did the other hdd(80gb) got the same problem

By the way i also forgot to mention that i placed my friend s hdd in my pc and played for quite sometime and absolutely nothing happened

So again the problem is obvious

But i just wanna whats wrong with both hard drives cause they were completely fine like 4 mounths ago than the problem started happening

Any ideas about this particular problem !!!?

Did you clean the drive in diskpart (or similar) or just reformat?

I still think it's a physical problem, I can't rule out a virus, but honestly I don't think it's that.

Yope.  I cleaned everything and anything that cant be cleaned starting from gpu and cpu

Also the pc reboot even without a gpu so it dosent matter. I still think its the hard drive but i dont get how did the problem jump into the other drive

Thats all i wanna so i wont ruin another new drive

Did you try a differnet sata cable? That is something both drives would have in common. Did you check the smart data on both hard drives?

Yope . When i said i did everything and changed everything i can change i meant it literally . Changed sata cables.  New mob new psu removed gpu.  Tried other ram fron a whole other pc thats working fine

Removed battery and returned after 30 sec

Trust me i literally everything that can be done and changed everything that can be changed

And i know for sure its the stupid hard drive whish by the way was completely fine until one day i decided to refresh (format windows and reinstall) u know that famous phrase "it was at this moment he knew he *******"

Thats literally me when the pc started rebooting

Yea it starded rebooting after i reinstalled the windows and it still doing it since then

It has been a long time since i lt started that i lost count

Again pls guys skip all the other problems

Just focus on this one

If anyone has any information about "how can a hdd corrept another hdd permanently "

Lemme know

Any information no matter how small it is

Im really in deep **** here

  • 3 weeks later...

I did it

I fixed the issue

4 days straight without turning off at all

The problem wasnt in my pc as i said before (cause i changed Everything that i can change of course)

The problem was the electricity coming from the wall . It was unstable

I figured that out when i tried to charge my phone + the last day on that room it burned my new psu

So yea im now using the old psu (working completely fine) and yea all i did is change the room

Funny i didnt think about this at all in three long mounths.  Wow

Thanks for u r help guys

If any of you knows a pc specialist make him add this problem to the menu

Cause trust me you wont find anyone in the whole world suggesting the issue i found

Cause i looked everywhere and nvr even once found it

Thank you again guys

If you invest in a UPS, it may save you many problems with bad power, I rented a old house and had issues with the wiring, but a UPS is a good thing to have!

+1. UPS can help you if you have bad electricity in your house. UPS can take a beating, your PSU can't...
