    Death from Static Electricity...?

Now is when you troubleshoot. Try taking off all your peripherals that aren't vital. Keep your monitor, keyboard and mouse connected tho. Then try it with only 1 stick of RAM, see if it makes any difference. Shuffle them to different ports and different sticks. If just one works, you know the other is detective. If you have onboard video, try taking out your GFX card, see if that works. Try resetting all your cables. 24-pin, 4/8-pin, and video card power. And whatever else you have. If you have a spare, try another PSU.
  3. the ai explorer wont work fast if your cpu doesnt have npu....
  4. I'm not certain I've killed it completely; I don't see how grounding myself thru the case could kill something else. I don't recall specifically which component I grounded to today when I touched it, but if it was a USB port could that have killed the whole thing? The fact that it comes on and immediately shuts right back off makes me think it might be salvageable. Could I have nuked a RAM stick? Video link:

Microsoft Edge 124.0.2478.67 changelog: Fixed various bugs and performance issues, improved reliability. Stable channel security updates are listed here. Announcement: Insecure downloads over HTTP Users that download potentially dangerous content on HTTP sites will receive a UI warning, (for example, "sample.exe can't be downloaded securely"). The user can still choose to proceed by selecting "Keep" on the downloaded item's "..." menu. Admins can also use the InsecureContentAllowedForUrls policy to specify HTTP sites where the warning will be suppressed. The warning's enablement in Edge 124 was accidental. We have reverted the warning in this Stable Release. Admins can use the InsecureDownloadWarnings feature flag to test the impact of this upcoming feature. Note: The warning is planned to be turned on in Microsoft Edge version 127. Fixes Removes "Microsoft chat provider for Copilot in Windows" from Windows Server devices. The component was incorrectly installed on some devices in a previous Microsoft Edge update. Feature updates Email notifications for extension requests in the Microsoft Edge management service. The Microsoft Edge management service now provides admins with the ability to receive email notifications for extensions that their users have requested. Once enabled, this will help inform them promptly of any new pending requests that they may have. 6. This is exactly the reason I'm giving Linux another try, this is getting out of control, Windows 11 is pure garbage.
  7. dude, just remove control panel, update old ui to match W11 aesthetics and stop piling more ###### like this on top of everything before you do that first, okay MS?

  9. Microsoft is slowly working towards an e7 subscription. 2 years ago I did a prediction of it being introduced within 5 years. So 3 more years of e5 + premium addons to go.
  10. lol remembers everything you do, gathers all your data and probably upload who knows where; sounds awesome
  11. "In addition, AI Explorer can analyze what is happening on the screen right now and provide contextual suggestions" Well, wonder if it will offer more interesting porn links/videos ... otherwise it will die like lumia Seriously though, this will offer ads....

  13. Google is testing a new 'Speaking practice' feature to help improve your English by Aditya Tiwari Source: Eren Li/Canva Google is baking a new AI-powered feature under its roof called "Speaking practice." The feature is part of Google Search and is meant to help improve your English speaking skills. TechCrunch reports that the search giant is currently testing it in Argentina, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Mexico, and Venezuela. Users in supported regions who have signed up for Google's Search Labs program can try out Speaking practice. The publication reports that Speaking practice was first spotted by user @howfxr, who posted some screenshots of the feature on X (formerly Twitter). Speaking practice —new AI experiment on Google's Search Labs! pic.twitter.com/ZqzyvgXNUZ — ㆅ (@howfxr) April 25, 2024 According to the screenshots showing its working and onboarding process, you can take part in "interactive exercises powered by generative AI to help you use new words in everyday scenarios with examples." You can answer conversational questions by responding with the help of specific words. For instance, the AI might ask a user, "Hi there! I'd like to talk with you about exercise. I want to get into shape. What should I do?" Here, you can answer the question by speaking and your answer should include "exercise," "tired," and "heart." With that said, there is no word on when (or if) the experimental feature will be generally available and expand to more regions. However, this isn't the first time the search giant has tried its hand at a language-learning tool. Last year, Google launched a tool in Search to help people practice speaking and improve their language skills. Users could engage in practice sessions of about five minutes, "presented with real-life prompts and then form their own spoken answers using a provided vocabulary word." The tool was designed to be used alongside other learning services and offered features such as personalized feedback, daily reminders, and more. The publication notes that Speaking practice goes a few steps further by adding back-and-forth conversations into the picture.
  14. "To mitigate potential privacy concerns and make things work faster, Microsoft wants to make all that processing happen on-device." The problem becomes how easily stolen and exploitable the data store the AI uses will be.
  15. Sure sounds like a good reason NOT to buy a system with a NPU. I'll be keeping my AMD 5950 based system for the foreseeable future.
  16. On device… yeah, until a “bug” sends all data to Microsoft. No thank you. I’m perfectly capable of finding my stuff on my own computer without this AI stuff built into it.
  17. ah the annual amazon devices are on sale and other things prices are meh except for some stuff day
  18. Eh, I've been using Open Shell for years so I never see ads/recommendations on my Start Menu. You can supposedly disable this in the settings.

  20. Maybe I'm rare but I feel like 90% of the time something has "recommendations" for me its wrong and the 10% of the time its right its faster for me to do it myself the way I want then rely on the automated guess.
