Well guys, The Basement is nearing completion and I was finally able to move the computer onto the New Desk with the New LCD Monitor into the New Computer Nook in the Basement. None of my other computers are setup right now, they will get posted later :p . Oh, and the house is now wired for CAT-5e wiring so I can just plug my computers in anywhere there's a plug :D

yes its very nice and cosy :p well ever since i cleaned it up :D yep thats my studying area next to the blinds, and if i need more room i just move the LCD back. The case is the Gigabyte Aurora 3D. its the biggest problem i have hardware wise atm with it being blocked at the rear. sometimes i would pull it out of the enclosed space to get more air, but i think this looks much more 'professional'. if u stick ur hand to the back, u can feel the heat rising, and im looking into ways to divert the heat out of the way wothout modifying cooling inside the case. the temps arent bad for the computer its self, its the burnt wood thats the problem :p

Sure Bob show off your SUPER clean case again this month... just kidding man

Nice workstations everyone!

I know, I'm being such an attention ###### the last couple weeks, I have no idea what is wrong with me. I've had parts of this set up for almost a year (case, PSU, mobo, desk, etc...) but for some reason I just started loving this PC the last few weeks. It would be one thing if it was all brand new and shiny, I'm just a dweeb :p

Where are all the cables??

First, the PSU itself doens't have a ton of cables, and what there are I hid behind the mobo tray, above the PSU itself and routed whatever I could behind the hard drive cage. It was a pain, and not my best work, but it cleaned up pretty nicely.

^ wise cracking duke nukem once (or many times?) said: "heh heh heh what a mess!"

no not a mess just well lived in :p

ok yeah it is a mess huge mess I am gone all day and then when I get home I have more work and reading to do there is never enough time in a day at least I picked the clothes up for the picture

This year I really began to hate sony computers for their assembly in the case and recovery systems.

After 4 years I began to notice its slowness and lack of innovation.

Poor Me! But it's better than that PII I had for 8 years

    • If you are willing to go to approx $200, then as mentioned in your other thread I think a refurbished Pixel 8 will be a great deal that will last you for years. I recently recommended that to someone at work, he was on a strict £200 budget, which got him an excellent conditioned refurbished Pixel 8 here. He's since told me its the best phone he's ever had and feels its a massive upgrade over his old Samsung A series device. I don't know the sites which deal in refurbished devices in the US, however I’m sure you will have some options like we do here. Failing that Ebay is also quite good in my expedience. If you wanted something a bit cheaper, then you could maybe go for an older Pixel 7, these will still get security updates until the end of 2027. Even after that you have good third party OS support from LineageOS. It doesn't have to be a Pixel, you can buy many older devices for a good deal that would be better than a new $100 phone and flash LineageOS to them: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/
    • I don't use one drive, but then I don't use any cloud storage, not even Icloud on my mac. If I did use cloud storage, then I would not use One drive, not because there is anything wrong with it, but because I can use Icloud. The only reason I see to use one drive is if your job requires you to have access to it
    • Not built in, which is not a bad thing. There are ways of adding cloud storage to it, Dropbox is the most well know that also have a client for Linux, but there are others.
    • My advice, dont use teams, use the web version if possible. https://teams.microsoft.com/v2/
    • RTD and Bad Wolf out Everybody lied, there was never a Christmas script done, even though they said there was RTD brought it back then killed it with the PC overload and garbage nonsensical stories Who knows what production company will want to drink from the poisoned chalice now. The squandered opportunity with the Disney partnership will go down in production folklore
