I know most of us wanted this to be our "PvP WoW killer" and for a fortunate few who have somehow found a magical way to enjoy the game it is. But given the glaring design flaws population imbalances and poor net coding. War is far short of being anything close to a DECENT game.

Pros

- New game

- Some nice ideas

- Funny at times with tome unlocks

- Unlike most ppl i like quest system showing you were is the area you have to go

- Interesting classes . not the usual tank/caster etc

- Collector's box package is fantastic , very classy

cons

- Mob AI is a JOKE

- Old time gfx engine , from the times of DAOC , feel outdated even with AA and AS on

- Old warping method used by nolifers in DAOC still present here , VERY SAD and DISAPPOINTING

- Combat animation is half a joke , seeing some sort of flash when you use an ability , there is no normal movement of your arm when you actually want to hit something in melee...just a flash and an occasional (bad or dull) kind of sound effect

- The game feels really heavy , probably because of bad optimization. It looks like a 3 year old game that could run on 500m of ram , yet it consumes 1.1 - 1.3 g on my rig.

Playing with 30 fps on a 40vs40 ppl might be defined " FINE " by many , not by me sorry.

- Bad interaction with environment items/walls/fences , i always seem to get stuck very easily on rocks , climb walls like if there is a hidden ladder or something

- Huge amount of roots/snares/knockbacks/knockdowns , in a game that claimed that CC will not be that important , huge let down

-REQUIRES Duo core or better to run efficient (My 2ghz duo core laptop runs the game better than my 3ghz p4 desktop)

All in all , WAR atm is a very nice idea that many ppl including me want to play and love it , but implementation is really really bad.

This product is obviously not ready , not anywhere near what they call "polished" in the industry.

Saddest thing is it carries 2 things that killed another great game , DAOC

1. crappy gfx engine

2. warping , making the game frustrating , especially for melee classes.

Realm balance issues: Nearly every single realm has destruction DOMINATING order in numbers of players.

Actual RvR: MDPS feels out of place tanks protect the ranged and the healers MDPS just doesn't feel like it has a solid role on either offense or defense.

Class balance issues:

Class that are suppose to mirror each other are now a joke.

WE is much better than WH

WL isnt even playable with pet pathing AI

BW is much stronger than the sorc counter part

Both eng and magus feel useless

Archmage is inferior to shaman

and the list could go on........

"I feel like we are all experiencing symptoms of the problem but are failing to directly acknowledge the source of the problem itself.

What we feel: Leveling is disjointed. We have to go to the other pairings to get xp and it doesn't feel right to do so.

Reality of MMOs: We've all played games in which we've had to travel to different zones to to level-appropriate questing

Reality of WAR: Besides the unwelcome and arbitrary "travel quest" there is nothing that links a chapter in one pairing to a chapter in another pairing. One has to literally drop everything, including a great story system and join another in mid-read. It's feels like you have a bunch of books about one fictional world (say, Discworld or perhaps D&D), and you cannot read one straight through. You have to read one from the beginning to chapter 11, then have to switch to the 2nd book to do chapters 11 to 12, then the third to do chapters 12 to 13, then back to the original book to do 12 and onward.

The action of switching zones to continue to use level-appropriate quests and monsters i FINE and accustomed to. However, WAR does not make this act feel natural and it creates discomfort.

When I run out quests in the Barrens and now have to move to Ashenvale, it is because all my quests now point to Ashenvale. Everything I have, that I've been putting off now points to this zone. This is in direct contrast to: I've run out of quests (aside from the arbitrary Rally master in the next chapter quest) and now have to pick another pairing at random just to continue."

This game was just released way to early for what the industry standard is now at.

That's because a single core of you C2D laptop owns your P4.

as for balance, again, like many others, you compare balance on 1v1. The game isn't designed for 1on1 combat. Even the Order classes that are the opposite of the Destro classes aren't supposed to be the same, they're not supposed to be identical and go 1on1 with eachother, they're supposed to the the same "class" but different. And I've seen in scenarios with order that despite it's classes often being weaker on a direct comparison with their destrou counterparts. together Order kicks serius ass and has no problems withthe supposed stronger Destro classes.

Read these if you want a pretty good indication of the game. Voodoo is reviewing each stage (1-20, 21-30 and 31-40 + end game content) as they go along. Much better review imo than most posted online.

Sponsored by IGN payed by EA. That is about as fair and balanced as fox news and even THEY admit what a grind the game is.

"After playing some 100+ hours I've finally dinged 30. The game is still fundamentally the same (questing, queuing up scenarios and grinding)"

"At around level 22-23 I was starting to get bored. Leveling in Warhammer is a major grind. The exp bar keeps getting longer and longer but the quest rewards, for the most part, stay about the same."

The game is good levels 1-16 (If your comp can handle it) but then its like you hit a brick wall and everything that was fun becomes dull and repetitive.

On 90% of servers destruction outnumbers order, yet even so World pvp is absolutely dead at lower tiers. Simply because there is no incentive to doing it.

Again Id read what the PLAYERS SAY: http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=134117

Rather than some website with corporate backing.

Id reply to your comment and address the issues you brought up but class balance is the last thing wrong on warhammers list of GLARING issues.

They used DAOC's engine which is garbage for an MMO. I can DESTROY any player as a ranged class thanks to window dragging (Playing in window mode and dragging the window lets you warp 30ft). Since window dragging cant be distinguished from lag they can not even ban players who abuse the bug.

Its a bug that has been around since DAOC and still exist. Quality control anyone?

Of course it is and you have solid evidence for this don't you? /foilhat

I'm currently 36, now for me I hit a wall around 29-32 when quests became sparse and I was really beginning to wonder if I'd have to grind. Other than that it's been a damn sight quicker 1-40 than any other MMO I've played. I've mixed things up with world RvR, PQs, PvE instances.. Oh you get the idea. There is a hell of a lot more interesting ways to get to 40 than there was for me doing 1-60 in WoW three years ago.

Each side has individual queues. If one hits the cap it won't let anyone else in. On my server we have reasonable queues every night for each side and lo and behold the world RvR can be quiet. We found out that is purely down to Order treating 1-40 like WoW and not venturing in to the RvR lakes.

You can't blame a game for people not willing to get out of their old routines.

Christ. We almost took the capitol because they couldn't be arsed defending it. :/

    • Google's next-gen Tensor AI chips might be produced by Samsung, report says by Hamid Ganji Image via Google Google’s Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) is produced in collaboration with companies such as Broadcom and TSMC, but a recent report suggests that the search giant is in talks with Samsung to hand over part of the production to the Korean tech company. According to a report by The Information, citing people familiar with the matter, Google has begun talks with Samsung about using its chip manufacturing capacity for the next generation of Tensor AI chips. Google’s upcoming TPUs are reportedly codenamed “Icefish” and will be produced using Samsung's 2-nanometer process technology. Meanwhile, Samsung is expected to produce only a portion of the next-generation Tensor chips, with most of the production remaining at TSMC. The Information says the new Tensor chips are currently in the design stage and are scheduled to enter mass production in 2028. TSMC is generally considered one of the most reliable chip manufacturing partners and is trusted by tech giants such as Apple and Google. However, the growing demand for TSMC’s AI chips, combined with the company’s focus on meeting demand from AI data centers, has reportedly prompted Google to seek additional manufacturing partners for its next-generation TPUs. Besides Samsung and TSMC, Intel could also be assigned part of the production. The Information reported this week is that Google has begun talks with Intel to produce up to three million TPUs in 2028. However, this is not the first time Google has partnered with Samsung on chip production, as Samsung has previously manufactured Tensor chips for Pixel smartphones. Google’s Tensor Processing Unit is used in cloud data centers and competes with NVIDIA’s chips, which currently dominate the market. By relying on in-house chips, Google can not only reduce its dependence on third-party providers but also create new revenue opportunities. The company has already supplied its TPUs to the AI firm Anthropic.
    • Reminder that the Premium and Ultimate plans already come with a 100 hour per month limit, which you then have to pay more to increase in 15 hour blocks.
    • It does invite Linux because MS should have been improving their products all along these years instead chose to ignore the users now this year they’re making all of these improvements to their products where as Linux doesn’t have this kind of problems in fact it has gotten so good I can even play Windows games in Steam that I no longer ever needed Windows to carry on with my life, unlike you still use Windows and chose to try beat down down those who don't use Windows because they love their LG TV. (Surprisingly I actually own a 55” LED LG TV and it has been going strong for almost 14 years, longer than any Sony TV”)
    • As much as I love owning my own hardware, it's hard to argue with the value. I'm not a huge gamer, I'd actually be interested in a cheaper plan with limited monthly hours, or even a pay-by-the-hour plan.
    • Well, they (LibreOffice/The Document Foundation) are bitchy and whiny, yes, but they're right, at least this time. It doesn't make sense to market something as "free and open source to thwart dependency on foreign companies' software" but at the same time, using the formats of said companies (Microsoft) by default. That way, you are changing nothing, essentially, you're just using another UI. We all know that users just use the defaults and almost never change them. I'm not saying they should drop other formats altogether, but they shouldn't default to the thing they're trying to run away from in the first place. If you're gonna do something, just go all the way in, don't stop in the middle, IMO. Otherwise, shut up and move along.
