when updating the virus definitions for AVG, the download speeds are laughable - less than 1kb. i could get 100k+ when using Symantec Liveupdate.

Yeah, I couldn't use the autoupdate feature from within AVG, didn't even connect to the servers, I had to do it manually. I dunno if it's a temp problem they're having or what.

i was trying to do an update all day yesterday, and it wouldnt. i was looking on their site for a manual solution but i could not find one..

how is the manual update done??

Thats a bug in their free version, dont know when they will fix

you get manual updates via www.grisoft.com and download the .bin ( i think) file

Yeah, it's unfortunate that you have to do it manually. I can't relly be dealing with that so this is a stop gap until I install a commercial product.

I was having some issues with AVG7 downloading updates. I htink their servers may be a little borked because when I finally did connect, the update downloaded at 21KB/sec only.
