There seems to be a lot of general support questions posted in the Customizing section here. I don't normally visit the Customizing area because I am not into skinning and tweaking very much.

However, my experience with USB Wi-Fi in Linux isn't good. I have a Linksys unit. And Fedora, Mandrake, and Knoppix did not install it for me. I know it can be made to work, because the free Lindows/Linspire download I have used it without any intervention on my part. (I guess Lindows isn't all that awful, then) I ended up going back to Fedora on that box, and using a bridge WiFi adapter that plugged into the onboard RJ45 connector (I cheated) ;)

So, it is likely that your problem can be resolved. I hope that someone will come along with a solution. Until then, maybe this 'bump' will draw a bit of attention to your problem. :D

Gotcha - so where do I get the free Lindows download then? RJ-45 is not an option for me, only USB wireless... thanks!

If you install it and it uses your USB ok, you might be able to see how it is setup in Lindows, and do the same thing with a more typical distro like Debian, Mandrake, Fedora, etc.

Good Luck!
