Well my firefox .8 seemed to load pages faster and what not, .9.2 seems to lag when looking at images or loading a website. Anyone have some good tweaks for it?

Get Mozilla Optimizer.

Yep. (Y) That speeds it up nicely, although some pages don't load correctly for me, like deviantART with the minimal theme.

Copy and paste this text onto notepad. Save it as userContent.css

Put it in this folder: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default.xxx\chrome\

It blocks most ads. :)

I made this file a long time ago on these forums. Enjoy. Much better than anything out there and support for dialup and broadband. I got the presets tuned with help from the guys at the Firefox forums.

Edit: Slightly updated file. Instructions clarified.

mozilla optimizer is the same as editing user.js. :)

you had some larger values than i did, so i changed mine accordingly. :)

Another trick that will help to speed up some Java Script in the Firefox to about 200-300%.

"dom.disable_window_status_change : true"

If you want to test goto this site, http://www.24fun.com/downloadcenter/benchjs/benchjs.html . In the test 1, you will notice the difference between turn this flag on and off.

wow dude that helped a lot. i tried that page without the tweak and i got 19.5sec. now with the tweak on i got around 9secs.

There are quite a few performance tweaks here. (Y)

FOR FASTER WEB PAGE LOADING:

This tweak will help web pages load faster, it has no real effect on download speeds, just helps your pc look up websites faster thereby speeding up how fast the page loads and making websurfing more enjoyable.

Navigate to this registry entry and change the following settings:

For XP & 2K

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services

\Tcpip\ServiceProvider

For 98, 98SE & ME

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es

\VxD\MSTCP\ServiceProvider

On the right for ALL OS's change these entries: (ALL values are HEXIDECIMAL)

Class = 1

DnsPriority = 1

HostsPriority = 1

LocalPriority = 1

NetbtPriority = 1

To change the value right mouse click on the value and select modify and enter the values above once you have done all of them reboot to take effect and see how fast your pages load.

For 98 & ME they should all look like:

01 00 00 00

i went from 22sec to 1sec :o

TEST 1 time: 1.773 sec.
