I hate Norton Antivirus.

Question

A typical checkup with Norton Antivirus:

"4 viruses have been detected"

*clicks 'Repair Files'*

"Repair failed. Would you like to quarantine?"

*clicks 'Quarantine files'*

"Quarantine failed. Would you like to delete?"

*clicks 'Delete files'*

"Delete failed. Would you like to ignore?"

*goes off in search of files. First two are deleted by selecting them and pressing the 'delete' key on my keyboard. Second two don't exist.*

Is there something better than this? Please don't tell me to use AVG, I've tried it and I don't like its instability.

if norton is such bull****, what am i supposed to use? AVG is ridiculous, in my opinion.

Yarr, I used to love Norton because it was so freakin simple and easy to use. Unfortunately, thats only when it works. I don't mind programs with alot of features, but AVG is just plain silly. It raided my system to the point where it was a pain to uninstall, and it never did find any viruses on my machine.

I once tried to 'obtain' a 'legal' copy of kaspersky, but after it installed, IE conveniently crashed and froze the moment i typed in 'kaspersky' in the google bar.

its a very good antivirus, sucky interface at defeauld but you can ge many skins for it

www.download.com read the reviews ;)

Cnet review or cnet user review? Both i wouldn't say it's reliable especially user reviews. Take a look at Virusbtn.com

http://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/archives/products.xml?table

The nice Avast failed in the 100% test. Just recently, Jun 2004 test. History of 9 pass, 19 fails. Not that good i would say.

You hate Norton, i can agree on that.. but avast being good? AVG is much better.

Alright, I went down to the local "Software-n-Spatulas" and picked up a copy of Symantec Antivirus (I didn't pay for it though, stealing it out of the store is the ultimate warez). I installed it, and I must say I love it. Why can't they just bite their tongue and make norton like this?

    • Nice rant! Expletive after expletive after expletive. Poor petal, I've touched a nerve. Would you like a tissue to wipe those tears away. Btw, nice one calling Neowin trash. Why would you stick around when you disrespect this site and the people behind it? Just go away if you feel that way.
