Replacing the Opera HTML icon

Recommended Posts

Just recently, I decided to stick to the default Windows XP icon set, only because I noticed a marginal performance decrease with programs like IconPackager, and because of the wonderful XPize. Unfortunately, one icon looks like complete ass - the Opera HTML icon.

IE has its XP styled icon, Firefox has its XP styled icon - why not Opera?

I decided to XP-ize the Opera icon for those who prefer the default XP icon set. Attached is the icon file; just go to Folder Options in Explorer to change the icon. The 48x48 and 32x32 look fine, but the 16x16 looks crappy - sorry about that.

In a Windows Explorer window: Click Tools, then Folder Options. Select the File Types tab.

Find "HTM" and "HTML" in the list (just hit H on your keyboard and scroll until you find them). Select either one of them and click Advanced. Click Change Icon... and select this icon, then click OK twice. Repeat this for the other file types associated to Opera.
