New Apple Software Products?

Recommended Posts

Before I give the load of stuff that apple rep told me, I want to share something with you. "I Hate Apple"

Now, I was at the apple store today. I needed to get my powerbook fixed [again] :x . I had the chance to play with the G5 and all the other stuff their, then i ran in to this cute rep lady which i was trying to flirt with. It didn't go that well, Then i just asked her "what is apple previewing on 28" she told me that apple, will be bring a lot of their powerpc software to mac. Mostly Pro software so they can preplace PowerMac's next. So what i hear is Mac Mini will be the last thing to go to intel... Odd but she said that Mac mini's are still sellings like crazy. Now, I believe this is news...

last time i went to an apple store the workers didn't even know that a universal dock for the ipod existed.

i love apple products, but i don't even talk to the workers in those stores let alone believe anything they say.

I have to agree with you... When I went to apple store to look at Powerbooks, [before I started hating mac's] the lady told me that Powerbooks are the best their is... The best at crashing!!!

At any rate. I was told the same thing from my friend who works for apple. So, she is correct.

usually apple is so secretive about their plans. so i guess since this is at one of their HQs instead of a bigger venue and invites were sent out so last minute it really isn't a big event. it just seems so un-apple to tell store employees what's going on ahead of time.

"fun, new products" does not mean updates to the pro software...although that could be an additional part of what is released on the 28th.

There is something else going on. Guarenteed.

Thought the universal binaries were gonna come out a few months later or was it March?.

Radish?

Ok, Here is a funny story... When Apple cameout with intel, I thought they went intel 100% like PowerBook Intel, PowereMac Intel etc. Well as everyone know, it never happened but I did try to buy something that wasn't out yet. The apple sales person had told me I should get a MacBook Pro, I was like why!? like why should i, I hate you guys anything... Before i could as anything like that, she told me that Pro software is due for march. So you are right:). :)

It was mentioned in the Key Note by Steve and it's also On the Pro's website...the conversion to U.B is due in March, so I wouldn't really be suprised if Apple push that out..

Actually, now that the Pro software are out, I'm just waiting on Adobe to jump on the band wagon so I can get a MacBook Pro...

Exactly, the people working there don't know anything of Apple's future plans nor do they have acces to unreleased stuff.

They know things the second we know things. The only hints they get is like "hold all current iMac models and expect new shipments" for example.

PLEASE stop with the I hate apple comments. It has gone past annoying and we really do not want to have to read that every time you post some sort of apple related news and or comment. Thank You.

If it is just going to be a bunch of software updates I am going to be highly depressed. It cant just be software updates though.

Well the news from the past 2 weeks have said that apple might be bring out a real ipod and cellphone... so don't be sad, be mad!

Not as much as you will be (Y)

It adds nothing to the conversation so it is appreciated.

I would love to see a real ipod/cellphone. Would be interesting to see what they would come up with.

I was odd ball that found iphone.org and then started digg it. Its odd because apple owned that domain in 1999 and 2006... I think they are trying to plan for next year many... To early to bring out a iPhone...

.org? That would make no sense whatsoever. Someone just falsified the WHOIS info.

So is it safe to say that here-say is actually considered Back Page News these days?

Sorry to be such a stickler, but I come to this section for concrete news... not to read second hand speculation from an Apple rep reported by an admitted Apple hater.

If you hate Apple so much then why are you persisting with them? Why not just cut your losses and buy something else?

so what happenend? where are the pro tools? where you lying? was the rep lying? YES.... as everyone with even the tiniest insight into apple knows..... REPS know jack all when it comes to future releases. My mum has a better idea than a apple sales rep.

OWNED!!

Please go ask your "mum" what's next please. Very curious.

Please don't post immature comments. The Neowin community would appreciate it.

my point being Mr Texas, that its common knowledge that reps have nfi about what is coming out. This rep said pro tools for today and no mac mini. This made front page news (Tom Graham thought it fit to put it on the front page lol), when in fact both predictions were completely wrong.

My mum predicts iBook next to make the transition followed by Powermacs and Pro software at the same event.

Watch this space Texan!

    • If you actually used it instead of responding like a petulant child you might be surprised. I switched from Google some time ago and have been very satisfied.
    • I am one of the first people to use the DXVK technology. In the channel below you can see some videos that I have made using this technology, including Assassin's Creed Odyssey. https://www.youtube.com/@nahum7995/videos Assassin's Creed Odyssey experienced several bugs and technical issues during its first months after release. It launched with its own fair share of funny but frustrating glitches. I ran it on DXVK 9 days after its release and I played it for many hours but didn't see a single significant bug on Linux. Assassin's Creed Odyssey is widely celebrated for pushing the franchise in bold new directions and specifically for nailing several elements better than any other title in the AC series: Player Choice & Branching Narrative, The Mercenary & Cultist System, Mythological Integration, Overpowered Combat Abilities, Open World Exploration But what I'm trying to point out is that this game wasn't quite playable on most windows systems, until a few months after its release when most of the bugs were fixed. However, on Linux it ran completely flawless from day one, although DXVK had seen little development and refinement at the time. What do you think the situation will be in 2026 now that most bugs and glitches of DXVK have been completely eliminated? This is information from Google about these situations that I am quoting. In many cases, using DXVK (a translation layer that converts DirectX 9, 10, or 11 into Vulkan) can result in more stable frame times and higher performance than native Windows rendering. This happens primarily by bypassing driver overhead and multithreading draw calls that were previously restricted to a single CPU core. Older APIs (like DirectX 9 and 11) are largely single-threaded on the CPU side. DXVK translates these calls to Vulkan, which is highly multi-threaded. This reduces CPU-bound stuttering on weaker processors. In certain cases, GPU manufacturers (especially AMD) have significantly better and more modern Vulkan drivers than they do for legacy DirectX. Vulkan gives developers—and in this case, the translation layer—closer control over how resources are held in VRAM. This can prevent micro-stutters and sudden frame drops during chaotic gameplay. Yes, certain games, particularly older DirectX 9 to 11 titles, can run with fewer crashes on DXVK than on native Windows. By intercepting DirectX draw calls and translating them into the modern, highly efficient Vulkan API, DXVK bypasses the limitations and poor driver support that cause instability in aging game engines. PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 can be easily and perfectly emulated on Linux. In fact, modern Linux emulators offer high-performance upscaling, widescreen patches, and automatic controller mapping out of the box.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 PlayStation 1/2/3 games look drastically better on Linux thanks to resolution upscaling. Furthermore, it is also a fact that you cannot play many fun games on Windows either, isn't it? - The Nintendo Switch has an extensive library of exclusive games. - PlayStation has an extensive library of exclusive games - Android has "mobile-exclusive" games, meaning they are exclusive to mobile devices (iOS and Android) and aren't available on PC or consoles. And finally, it is also the case that in the next five years there will be games that millions of people will say you absolutely must play and that they want to play this specific game that released a few days ago. However, the other side of this story is that currently, absolutely no one cares that they cannot play these upcoming games right now.

    • I found that stability back then was really down to the motherboard manufacturer. Back then i stuck with Microstar motherboards and VIA chipsets as they were ultra reliable. Most stuff was done with jumpers and left little room for user created problems 👍
