tried switching it on and it comes on the lights are on etc but nothing on screen, it says AV4 etc and 1080p in the corner but screen stays black. Anyone know whats going on, the wireless light and HDD light are constantly flashing.

I would of thought possibly the cable (you had problems earlier)

But the fact the HD/Wireless lights are constantly on doesn't sound good :/

Connect up through analog/scart and see if it works. That would debunk idea of the HDMI cable being duff.

Also try another TV if you can!

And finally try the other HDMI port on the TV.

same thing with the composite/scart cable. Tried 2 HDMI cables, the blockbuster one only displayed 1080i, my own displayed 1080p, now neither work or the PS3 is not accepting them. HDD light flashing along with Wifi light, its tripping me out, going to try it on my little 14" Tv in the morning, see what happens. Feeling the top of the PS3 it does feel quite warm so it will have time to cool down aswell by the morning.

This is the first i heard of a PS3 failing, it seems odd. When did you get yours? Was this a launch unit? They did say that a small number (2%) of PS3's were defective, and they would work to iron out those issues. I would give them a call, and see what happens.

got it yesterday, going to try it on another TV, if it doesnt work then im giving sony a ring, just to be on the safe side im going to use the same hdmi cables with my DVD player, then i can rule out my TV if that works.

It MAY be your TV, but in that case it wouldn't explain why your HDD and wifi lights are flashing. That AV4 and 1080p in the corner is just your TV set telling you what settings are on that certain plug in the back.

Putting in any other cables probably isn't working right now because your PS3 is still trying to output at 1080p, that's why I think you should try the "holding reset until it beeps" twice method.

In standby mode, or when it's on - hold RESET until it beeps twice. I think it's better if it's already on, that's the only thing I can think of. It's suppose to let your PS3 boot up in default video output settings or ones that match your TV - I forget which one.

Good luck! (Y)

I've got a number for a direct line guy at Sony - one of their main people I think - he got me a replacement within 1 day :) I could give you his number but I don't think I'm allowed :(

no probs, im pretty sure sony support will be better than the microsoft support and sony's electronics support(thats abysmal they just blatnatly just lie). was working 2day didnt have time to phone but im ringing them tomorrow morning first thing to sort this out.

Next gen consoles. Breakin on yo asss.

lol aye they are, xbox360 should be back by the end of the week though so i wont mind loosing the PS3 for a few days for repairs. Most reliable console for me has been the Wii, no hassles, just plug and play lol

My Wii is the only console that's gave me problems. Some faulty power supply. I need to take the fuse out the plug and put it back in for it to work again. (and no it's nothing about the current from the socket before someone suggests it's electric surges or whatnot)

Noveed, did you try what I posted?

ive done all sorts lol, its been beeping mad, i pressing it until i heard beeps, still no luck, Wifi Light flashes along with HDD light, i manged to get a picture with a composite cables for a few minutes but when i switched it off then on again it would not come on again. A friend of mine has some QED reference hdmi cables, i might try them once i give sony a call, they might be able to suggest something else.

shafted. lol did you get warranty or insurance on it?

comes with 1 year warrenty i believe

You just bought it didn't you? Just exchange it at the store?
Just return it and get a new one.

I would but it was quite a mission tracking it down, there was only 1 Blockbuster that had it in my region and they only had the1 unit. If i do return it i doubt ill get the same one. Im going to try the sony support route first it that fails ill just take it back. If they have any second hand ones ill just get one of them and ask for the difference back.

I'd hold back on the PS3 and take it back to be honest. First time something fails isn't a good sign, taking it back would be the best option in my honest opinion. You could buy it online. :) Anyways, it's your choice. Hope it all works out for you.

    • Apple and Tesla trade secrets reportedly exposed following a Tata Electronics cyberattack by Hamid Ganji Image via Depositphotos.com Tata Electronics has confirmed that it detected a cybersecurity incident in some of its systems. The Indian company is a manufacturing partner of both Apple and Tesla, and the incident may have exposed some trade secrets belonging to the two American companies. The World Leaks ransomware group is said to be behind the attack, and it has reportedly posted up to 200,000 files on the dark web, including component designs and specification documents related to Apple and Tesla products. Tata Electronics told Reuters that its response protocols were deployed immediately and that the “incident has had no impact on our operations across businesses, which remain unaffected.” The ransomware group reportedly sent a ransom demand to Tata Electronics, while Apple has launched an investigation into the incident. World Leaks claims it stole more than 200,000 files totaling over 630GB from Tata Electronics. Some database files on the ransomware group’s website are titled "com.apple.factorydata," which could refer to Apple’s iPhone production operations in India. Moreover, some documents reportedly contain material specifications and quality inspection standards for iPhone circuit board components. However, Apple is not the only affected company. A folder found in the World Leaks database is titled "NV36 Chargeport Controller - North America," which may refer to Tesla Model Y components. Additionally, other files in the database reportedly contain drawings related to Tesla’s Project Highland, the internal codename for the EV maker’s updated Model 3 sedan. To support the authenticity of the stolen files, World Leaks has published documents containing footers that read: "This document contains proprietary and confidential information of Apple Inc." and "information contained herein is deemed confidential, proprietary, and a trade secret of Tesla Inc." Cybersecurity researcher Rajshekhar Rajaharia told Reuters that the database also contains emails, event logs spanning several years, and passport copies of employees, including foreign nationals. Both Tesla and Apple have declined to comment on the scale of the incident.
    • Last time I used Pascal was in college about 40 yrs ago, programmed an inventory database for my exam.
    • If they don't sell enough of the 1st gen then there won't be a 2nd gen
    • Epic fail, should've added an eSata port on the back, also if the memory/NVME are soldered then they're hardly gonna sell any, first thing most people do with their Steamdeck is, or used to be, replacing the NVME with a 2TB one. At that price they should, possibly for the first time, offer an installments option, say 24 months, they may sell a lot if they do. I'm sure they would have no shortage of credit companies willing to partner.
