Pretty Nifty, but this same thing can be handled by the secondary stick, since Turn 10 can make the secondary one only for this purpose...

I know they can, but the purpose is to make it seem as close to driving as possible. That's why people spend hundreds of dollars to purchase wheels instead of driving with a gamepad. It's also great if you are driving with a wheel because you don't have to take your hand off of it to look into a corner.

Here's what I don't get about head tracking :-

I'm driving along and come up to a sharp left hander like the Loewes Hairpin at Monaco, I look left to look into the corner but now I am no longer looking at my TV. I can see how it would work if you have the multiple monitor setup that forza allows but on a single screen you'll end up not looking at your TV for most of the time unless the sensor if very sensitive in which case you'll probably end up "head tracking" when you really didn't mean to.

The head tracking in GT5 with the eye cam wasn't upto much due to the above.

Guess I'll just have to wait and see if it's any better in Forza as I have the kinect.

That is the downside, because unless you have a huge TV or sit really close :shifty: you need to shift your eyes to keep looking at the screen. The advantage is the movement of your head (as your eyes stay on the screen) panning the camera instead of doing it with a thumbstick. I would imagine this is just like the system in GT5, so if you didn't like that you wouldn't like this implementation either.

I sold my Xbox 360 (with Forza 3) to buy a PS3 and GT5... I regret that BADLY as Forza 3 was a substantially better game in my experience.

This may well tempt me back to Xbox ownership.

The thing is that Kinect doesn't need you to move your head nearly as much as the EyeCam, Due to the depth camera that isn't affected by low light conditions it gets much higher resolution of your head movements. So we're talking about fairly minute movements, so small that they become natural, and your eyes adjust naturally and you won't even notice you're looking at a slight angle. we're talking 1-2 degrees at most here.

Kinecting the core: Forza 4 head-tracking shown in video

A new video on Youtube has Major Nelson giving us the first glimpse of Forza 4?s head-tracking feature.

The video, taken from Inside Xbox, features him trying out the racer?s head-tracking feature, which tracks your head?s movements via Kinect.

It also has Dan Greenawalt of Turn 10 detailing it further.

Microsoft earlier confirmed that the game will shown at E3 this year.

You can watch the clip below. The game?s marked for a fall release.

At work so I can't really watch the video here on the remote desktop, only see the screenshot they show at the start. but I really hope they have an option to have a more zoomed in view witht he head trackign to. I never understood the fascination with using 65% of yoru screen to show the roof, steering wheel dashboard and A-frame. the windshield is already smaller than your real windshield on a 42 inch tv if you sit right in front of it, with the regular inside view from Forza 3.

I use the in car view the most because it is the most realistic. I also use the view where you can only see the bonnet on tight courses where you not only cant see the apex but you also cant even see where the track goes.

Head tracking looks like its going to be pretty good, I don't think it will work for full on turning your head 90degrees to see if someone is along side you, but slight natural movements instead.

GT5 still has the best lighting in a racing game. Forza looks like everything is coated in plastic :( That said, Forza 4 will no doubt be better than GT5...they've been steadily improving the series with each entry this generation...though I did feel as though the career in 3 was a bit stale after 10 hours.

I was thinking of starting an official Forza 4 Neowin Car Club thread. There shouldn't be various Neowin Car Clubs and if the person who creates it will be the president maybe we should decide who the person to create it should be. The thread would give us an option to discuss this and have people weigh in on their option or if they want to throw their hat in the ring. Any thoughts?

    • Microsoft confirms Windows 11 26H2 to finally get one of the most requested features by Sayan Sen This past week Microsoft officially confirmed Windows 11 version 26H2 with the latest build, 26300.8697, for testing in the experimental Insider channel. The company also published more details about it mainly directed towards IT admins and system admins. Essentially version 26H2 will be delivered via an enablement package (eKB) over Windows 11 25H2. If you are wondering about some of the upcoming features in the next Windows version, one of them is certainly very interesting as Microsoft has confirmed it is finally bringing one of the most overwhelmingly requested features ever. March Rogers, the Partner Director of Design at Microsoft, recently highlighted some of the Search improvements that the company is testing, and during the interaction with users on X where he posted it, Rogers also confirmed that the company is working on disabling web search results inside Search. This is something which many users find quite annoying as Windows would often serve them links to Bing which it feels could be more helpful rather than bringing up the actual object or app the user may be searching for on their PC. Finally though the company is prioritizing local file search over the web. However the feature could not be disabled for many users as not all new features are immediately rolled out to everyone. Image via phantomofearth (X) Windows enthusiast phantomofearth who likes to dig deep into new builds uncovered the IDs you will need to enable these features. Using the following feature IDs the new Search-related features landing in Windows 11 26H2 can be used. Follow the steps below to enable the new Search experience on Windows 11 build 26300.8697: Download ViveTool from GitHub and unpack the files in a convenient and easy-to-find folder. Press Win + X and select Terminal (Admin). Switch Windows Terminal to the Command Prompt profile with the Ctrl + Shift + 2 shortcut or by clicking the arrow-down button at the top of the window. Navigate to the folder containing the ViveTool files with the CD command. For example, if you have placed ViveTool in C:\Vive, type CD C:\Vive. Type vivetool /enable /id: and press Enter. Restart your computer. If you change your mind and want to restore, repeat the steps above and replace /enable with /disable in the commands on steps 5 and 6. Delightedly and perhaps also expectedly, once you disable web search and other such bloat, the Windows 11 Search is said to get snappier as remarked by another Windows enthusiast Xeno.
