What are your favorite movies?

Recommended Posts

This is my list, i'd be interested in hearing yours.

1. Casablanca: Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Claude Rains ? Superb Cast, Story and Acting. This is my favorite film for many reasons. Every single line is a classic line and this is one of those rare movies that you can put in and your girlfriend will love it and you will too. It is thrilling, brilliant film making. Fave Lines: Ugarte: You despise me, don?t you? Rick: Well, if I gave you any thought I probably would.

Renault: Why did you come to Casablanca? Rick: For my health, I came for the waters. Renault: The Waters? We?re in the middle of the desert! Rick: Well, I was misinformed.

Fave Moments: Too many to list, and as with the favorite lines part I don?t want to give away the film to those who haven?t seen the movie. However the moment that grows on me each time I see it is when Lazlo leads the crowd at Ricks place in a rousing rendition of the French National Anthem which drowns out the Nazi?s singing the German National Anthem.

2. Apocalypse Now: Martin Sheen, Marlon Brando. Robert Duvall, Dennis Hopper, Larry Fishbourne (his first movie) Cameo by Harrison Ford - The Vietnam War on Acid, very loosely based on Joseph Conrad?s Heart of Darkness. Fave Lines: I hardly said a word to my wife until I said ?Yes? to her divorce.

My orders say I don?t know where I?m supposed to take you, so I don?t. But one look at you and I know it?s going to be hot.

He?s close man. He?s real close

Fave moments: The opening sequence and the attack on the Vietnamese Village.

3. Lawrence of Arabia: Peter O?Toole, Omar Sharif, Anthony Quinn - Definition of Epic film making, gorgeous cinematography. Fave moments: The famous switch shot of the match blowing out to the rising sun. which is reminiscent of a similar shot in ?2001? with the rotating bone in the air to the space station. I also love the scene at the well. Beautifully shot.

4. Goodfellas: Ray Liotta, Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci ? Prototypical gangster flick.

Fave Lines: It?s hard to quote any lines from GF since nearly every line has a swear word in it, but one of my favorite clean lines is ?I ordered spaghetti and all I got was egg noodles and ketchup.? Fave moment: Pesci?s ?Why am I so funny? sequence and the card games with Spider.

5. Citizen Kane: Orson Welles ? Absolute Power corrupts absolutely. Fave Line: (Yeah, yeah, I know its clich?d, but it?s got to be) Rosebud! Fave moment: Kane clapping for his wife at the opera when everyone else has stopped.

6. The Godfather Part II ? Al Pacino, Robert DeNiro, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton ? Coppola gives us a second offer that we can?t refuse and it?s better than the first. Fave Line: Fredo, I know it was you! You broke my heart. Fave moment: All of the DeNiro scenes in Italy. Pacino?s face when Kay tells him that she had an abortion.

7. Schindler?s List: Liam Neeson, Ben Kingsley, Raif Finnes ? Heart breaking movie with one of the most evil characters ever created on film. Fave Lines: I think we better have that drink now.

I pardon you

Fave moments: The german officer maniacally playing the piano while they liberate the ghetto.

8. Unforgiven: Clint Eastwood, Gene Hackman, Morgan Freeman ? The western that shattered all the myths of the genre. Fave Lines: Little Bill: You just shot an unarmed man. Munny: Well, he should have armed himself.

LB: The Duck of Death. Uhh, that?s ?Duke?. LB: Duck, I says.

Fave Moments: The end shootout, and Munny and the Kid talking about death before Munny rides into town before the last shootout.

9. Taxi Driver: DeNiro, Jodie Foster, Harvey Keitel ? Harrowing Disturbing movie, there is a belief that Scorsese made the best film of the 70?s with Taxi Driver, the best film of the 80?s with Raging Bull and the Best Film of the 90?s with Goodfellas. Not that bad to have on your resume, but this movie still bugs the hell out of me and I?ve seen it many times. Fave line: Loneliness has followed me my whole life. Everywhere, in bars, in cars, sidewalks, stores, everywhere, there?s no escape, I'm God's lonely man. Fave moment: Sport dancing with Iris.

10. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Clint Eastwood, Eli Wallach, Lee Van Cleef ? More of a moralistic opera than a western, it has amazing cinematography and it grows on me more each time I see it. Fave Lines: Tuco: "God is on our side because he hates the yank!" Blondie: "But god is not on our side because he hates stupid idiots"

Tuco (Trying to read a letter): "See you soon id...., id...., id...." Blondie (Taking the letter from him): "Idiots. It's for you."

Fave moments: Tuco searching for the grave and the brilliantly shot shootout at the end.

Okay, that?s my list. What?s yours?

    • Cheap labour, the same as the U.K. China pays their people pittance.
    • Those people that come over here on boats are already in a safe country, if they want to come over here then do so correctly though the right channels. I was born in the U.K, my family that came over here came so via the proper means. My partner came here via the correct channels, she also became a British citizen, she knows more about this country than most of them that was born here, including myself, she worked hard to do what she does. She will stick up for this country and have done a few times, when people from her own part of world have put the U.K down. We are not going to agree, all I said to start with is that maybe Trump has the right idea with this America first thing and maybe we should start doing the same. Maybe not as drastic as what he is doing, but we do need to sort this country out, we need to sort out tech instead of relying on the U.S and others. Again you have not shown why you are so annoyed that we have left the E.U and this is what it is all about? If you don't live in the U.K and live in the E.U are you annoyed that we left your little club? If you live in the U.K and is pro-E.U, then fair enough then I can see how it annoys you. Are you one of these people who lives in the U.K and have a holiday chalet in the E.U and can now only stay there for so long? If so, then that is bad luck. As I have posted before, I have no problem with people coming here to work, as long as they do if via the proper channels. We are out of the E.U, people voted out, and maybe if more people had voted instead of sitting on their backsides the results would have been different. But they like the E.U and our government thought no we would not vote to leave. How wrong they were, surprised me. I expected to wake up in the morning and hear on the radio that we voted to stay. As I said, we are out and have been for 10 years, we are not going to go back in anytime soon if we ever do, so we all need to make the best of how things are. Anyway, this is supposed to be a tech site.
    • Tim Cook: "The US over time began to stop having as many vocational kinds of skills." What's the point of wasting time getting those skills if you can't get a job with them? Good Lord, maybe he and his cohort of CEO's who exported all these jobs to China should just shut the f**k up :D
    • I made a new Cinematic/Trailer for the game, this will be the intro, still a work in progress!  I also updated the Steam page with a ton of new screenshots! 👀 https://store.steampowered.com/app/3925340/Incoherence_Dark_Rooms/
