File Extraction Program?

Question

Tried googling a program that will take a folder, have the user input a file extension of what they want to extract out and dump it all into a folder the user selects.

I have root-folder1 , folder2, folder3 etc with various .gifs/.jpgs/.pngs that I want to seperate.

Instead of going through each folder and manually seperating them, a program like this would probably cut my time by a few hours.

I tried using WinRAR to achieve this but no luck ... any ideas?

I don't know of a program that will do this for you but if you are using windows XO just open the folder, click on an open space, and choose arrange icons by type. Then all the .bmp's will be listed together in alphabetical order followed by the .gif's, then the .jpg's, and you can manually select them that way.

But hopefully someone will get you a program to make it easier.

some programs show all the files in an archive in a single list, with a field for the folder it's contained in. i think winzip did this, but i'm not sure if it still does since i haven't used it since version 7... it probably does though.
