23/24" IPS Monitor Poll

Recommended Posts

you can try the ASUS ProArt series, they have some good IPS panels and a lot of added features and the prices are not too bad. The new one i think is PA238 or something like that, really good contrast and colors. i think they claim a contrast ratio of 50,000,000:1, which is hyperbole, but it does look good and all their panels are now mercury free and save energy etc.

I need advice about getting a 23 or 24 inch monitor with IPS panel (looking at Dell U2410, Dell U2311H, HP HP ZR24w, NEC EA231WMi). From what i read in previous threads people like dell's u 2410 but most of the reviews are negative about it. u2311h is with e-ips so worse than u2410 and zr24w.

Uhh... source? That's one of the best 24" monitors ever made.

If you are reading reviews on pro sites, look around at their ad space and if its populated by ads for monitors equivalent to the u2410 but $600 more expensive, then you'll know why the reviews are negative. It is an outstanding monitor for its price.

Also, I have a 2311h at work and it is far inferior to the 2410. The vertical viewing angle is small, and the contrast is poor.

The 24-inch U2410 is rather a disappointment. It costs much more than the U2311H but only offers an extra inch of the screen diagonal and a few video outputs ...

There is also a very cheap LG 23" Wide IPS231P-BN

Found your thread. From the semi-casual user demanding high quality, wouldn't ANY IPS panel be great? From my other thread, people were discussing H-IPS and E-IPS and it's been established that yes the 2410 has the H- and the 2311 has the E- which is inferior apparently. It's still up in the air which one I'd pick but the $200 retail price difference or currently $100 price difference between the 2 still suggests I'd get the 2311

EDIT: the U2211 should also be considered, similar to the 23" but you lose an inch

I've got 2xU2311's and wouldn't trade them for the world..

The 24's are nice, but just not worth paying almost double for..

Add to that the Dell's pivot 90degrees makes them awesome for programming and web-surfing. The USB Hub isn't a bad thing either lol.

@yxz Is it good? This is the cheapest ips i can get in here and since LG does most of the IPS panels for the other vendors it might be good. I already have LG tv with IPS panel and I love it

I got one of these and damn, it is marvelous. I don't think anything can beat it in that price range. The only things that can beat it are some professional monitors that are priced at 500-600 or so. Get it and you won't regret your choice.

P.S. I got the IPS236 (Japanese model) but they are pretty much the same.

    • Bluesky COO warns social media regulations could destroy competition from small startups by Paul Hill Fears that increasing government control of social media risks regulatory capture by the biggest social media firms were raised again recently. Bluesky’s chief operating officer said in an interview that social media bans for children and tighter regulations for social media firms risk creating a world where there are only a few social media platforms run by companies with the deepest pockets. Regulations on social media firms have been very lax since they appeared for mainstream users in the 2000’s. This gave Meta, Snapchat, and Google time to build up their user bases and get entrenched, with Meta being the most successful. Now that Meta has succeeded, it has been attempting regulatory capture. By pushing for more regulations of social media, Meta hopes to make it more difficult for rivals to challenge it. For its part, it doesn’t need to worry about the cost of regulation because it has a lot of money to spend, whereas startups do not. Speaking to CNBC, Rose Wang, Bluesky’s chief operating officer, said: “I support the protection and the safety of youth, the question that we have then is at what cost, because essentially what I’m scared of is in the long term, we’re headed to a world where there’s about three to five platforms, and extreme heavy regulation of those platforms, and basically the whole compliance teams of these platforms are 10 times the size of our entire team. So, basically, we’re living in a world where it’s almost impossible for smaller entrants to come in and build healthier spaces. These platforms have led to a place where the bottom line is the thing that drives what they do... so I understand why governments have to step in and regulate, because the platforms have done nothing right.” She said that while she is not against regulation, there needs to be more channels between the small to mid-sized players and regulators to help protect them. She says that big tech players, on the other hand, “who we know are circumventing regulation,” need to be regulated. Essentially, the Bluesky position is one of nuance, rather than absolutes. While Bluesky’s proposal may preserve competition in the social media space, it still doesn’t address the massive privacy implications these age verification measures introduce, such as handing over sensitive identity documents to access age-gated content.
