My picks are Samsung and LG for low-mid tier displays and apple cinema displays and panasonic and LaCie for the upper end.... Ezio is great as well.

You do know that Apple use LG in their monitors right ? Go with the LG and save yourself the Apple tax.

I might be looking for a new screen within the next year, something like this.

I have a 2007wfp (with an IPS panel) at the moment, it does the job and everything (apart from being replaced 3 times under warrenty for odd shadows forming at the top and bottom)

I haven't seen a new decent monitor like the ones listed here in person, what sort of improvement in IQ would I expect?

It's one of those things where it's hard to see them in person, most PCs in shops come with cheap monitors these days.

I also have that 2007FP (similar but non-widescreen model) and it was crap. It crapped out on me last years and I had to buy an LG to replace it. Buy the LG IPS231 and you won't be disappointed.

@_DP I doubt you'll see much difference, If i were you I would wait another year or so to see how the technology moves on.

You'll most likely see an improvement in image quality from the H-IPS monitors, such as the Dell U2410, as H-IPS is better than the S-IPS panel of Dell 2007WFP. I assume your 2007WFP has an S-IPS panel, as there were some that had PVA panels. E-IPS is not as good as H-IPS and S-IPS, so I doubt you'll see any improvement in image quality. As neoraptor has said, I doubt you'll much difference anyway.

I have a 2007WFP (S-IPS) and a 2407WFP (PVA) and even though PVA is an inferior panel to S-IPS, I don't notice any difference in image quality.

I love my U2410. It is a great quality screen and has so many input options and addon features (like Picture in Picture) that is an amazing screen.

It is also one of the few screens left that are 16:10 @ 1920x1200 and not the crappier cousin 16:9 @ 1920x1080.

The 24-inch U2410 is rather a disappointment. It costs much more than the U2311H but only offers an extra inch of the screen diagonal and a few video outputs ...

There is also a very cheap LG 23" Wide IPS231P-BN

A few video outputs? What are you referring to? I would have thought the screen itself was the output and all that mattered were the variety of inputs (which the U2410 seems to have a TON!... Dual DVI, VGA, DisplayPort, Component, Composite, and HDMI... Basically anything you'd ever need).

Dell u2410 is really a good monitor, nobody argues that. The only question is - Is it twice the monitor than u2311 since it costs twice?

@+ApuBo Try looking from different angles (or play a game) and I'm sure you will find difference, can't really compare a TN and IPS panel.

I just got the HP ZR24w at work gawd the thing is thick! defiantly wasn't expecting the front bezel to be 2 inches deep plus another 2 ish behind that!

Finally! gawd why couldn't that of been out a couple months ago when I was looking and ended up with the ZR24w....... the dell one uses about 40 watts, the ZR24w uses almost 200 watts! not going on a green kick here but when you are running on a UPS you don't want high wattage loads in areas that have frequent power blips and outages ugh

I do not care much for Dell PC's but they do put out a very good monitor line.
